Chapter 2
Half the night I could not fall asleep, now and then remembering Victor. I couldn't believe that it was all for real. And how can you believe it? If someone had told me only four months ago that I would meet with the leader of my favorite rock band, Call of the Elements, who, moreover, is the living embodiment of the fire element, I would have laughed out loud. And here's how it happens in life...
I dozed off in the morning and almost overslept as a result. For some reason, it was today that the usually annoying loud howls of the alarm clock seemed somehow indistinct and lulling.
She would have basked in bed if her half-asleep wandering gaze had not dabbed at the arrows on the dial. She yawned lazily, and then, realizing what was happening, jumped up briskly.
She grabbed a towel and a bag of cosmetics in an armful and rushed towards the shower. Refreshed, put herself in order and darted back into the room.
At the very entrance, she almost ran into Victor.
He stood with his arms folded across his chest and his back against the wood-paneled wall. Satisfied, dreamy and... so expensive.
“Hello,” the fireman smiled when he noticed me. His pupils immediately dilated, filling the sparkling blue of his irises with their blackness.
“Hi,” she whispered softly in response. Her lips parted into a wide smile.
So they stood like two idiots, unable to say anything else or tear their happy glances away from each other due to overwhelmed emotions. The surrounding space floated, and it seemed that no one but the two of us existed in the whole world.
“I didn’t sleep all night,” Victor spoke first, coming even closer and touching my tips with hot fingers. - Thought about you.
“Me too,” I didn’t even imagine that you could smile even more.
Is this all for real? And are we a couple?
“Come here,” he breathed raggedly, as if reading my thoughts, and pulled me to him.
I felt his hot breath, and the next moment my lips were burned by a kiss. Vibrant, incredibly soft. Victor hugged me carefully, as if he was afraid to frighten me away. A relaxing warmth came from his body, and I finally stopped understanding anything, dissolving in such pleasant sensations.
“Okay, Little Fox, let’s go have breakfast,” the fireman whispered in his ear, bringing him back to reality.
- What? She clapped her eyelashes incomprehensibly, and Victor pulled away. His blue eyes sparkled with glee.
- Move, come on, otherwise they will snatch all the food.
Our modest appearance made a splash. The guys, as if on cue, quieted down, forgetting about conversations and snacks. They aimed at us with greedy glances, trying to notice as much as possible. Even the teachers got excited. Still would! Such news!
Did Viktor Shtelm himself get along with the newcomer? Which was accused of debauchery no less ... What if it's just a rumor? Or some stupid joke?
I tensed and raised my chin - well, let's keep the defense. Victor squeezed my hand reassuringly. Slowly turned to the adepts.
“Kh-khh,” a meaningful dragon cough sounded, and the frightened inhabitants of the academy immediately returned to their business.
She mentally chuckled. And how did he manage to intimidate everyone? The ridiculous situation not only amused, but also relaxed. And I went much more freely towards the watermen. But as soon as I took a step towards my faculty, I was pulled back possessively.
- How about...
“You will sit with me,” Victor said conspiratorially and transferred me to the senior firefighters through the portal.
“Good morning, Miri,” greeted Mark, who was sitting opposite and ate an omelet on both cheeks. - And I already began to fear that this unbearable monster dragged you into his secret lair.
“I overslept,” she smiled embarrassedly and shrugged her shoulders, settling herself comfortably on the bench next to Victor. But Celeste used to sit here before ...
“Alright then,” said the friend. “But you already keep your eyes open with him,” he shook his fork instructively. - And then you won’t have time to blink, when you find yourself, you don’t understand where. - Victor rolled his eyes tiredly at this remark, which provoked Mark even more. And he added, boldly. “Well, I warned you.
Mark returned to breakfast, and I looked around. Today, there have been significant changes in the camp of firemen. Celeste moved to the other side of the table. Together with the first beauty of the academy, her closest friends and most devoted fans “moved”. The girl desperately flirted with one of the guys, trying not to pay attention to our trinity. But it seemed to me that it was a game for the public and irritation was hidden behind the indifference.
To Viktor's right, a little further than usual, were Will and Helena. The curator caught my eye, languidly smiled with the corners of his lips as a sign of greeting and turned to his girlfriend. Why isn't he in the mood? I shook my head and pulled my plate of scrambled eggs toward me.
“Everyone is looking at us,” she sang in a mysterious half-whisper, while Victor served me pies. But he waved it off in his usual lazy way.
- So what?
- It's terribly annoying...
