It wasn't until Carter's car disappeared from my sight that I walked out of the room to find the butler.
"Mr. Brown, may I ask you something?"
"Of course, ma'am."
Mr. Brown was the only person in the cottage who was nice to me; he was very kind and often comforted me.
"Do you know where Carter is going?"
Mr. Brown hesitated a little. I immediately grabbed his hand and pleaded with him, "Please, Mr. Brown, just tell me what's going on! Did something happen to my sister?"
If something hadn't happened to Vanessa, Carter couldn't have been so anxious.
Mr. Brown nodded, "I just heard that Miss Vanessa committed suicide, and he is now going to St. Andrew's Hospital."

He stopped looking at me and gently fed Vanessa with water.
Now besides the pain in my stomach, I felt my heart was aching too.
Worrying about my baby, I walked out of the ward with a limp and headed downstairs to the maternity unit for a checkup.
My stomach hurt too much. Although the baby in my belly was not loved by its father, I couldn't give up on it.
I had just reached the maternity floor and was standing by the window waiting for the doctor to call me when I noticed Carter walking downstairs with his bodyguard, ready to leave the hospital.
Was he leaving so soon? Wouldn't he spend more time with Vanessa?
Just as I was wondering where he was going to, the nurse called my name. It was time for the examination.
