Chapter 4 Meeting with Regan

Princes Kinan 2.1k words

After cleaning my face in the bathroom, I quickly returned to my room.

Dugh!

I winced at bumping into someone. Looking down while walking is not good; your forehead hurts when you rub it.

"Are you okay?" The bass sound made me look up at Aiden's familiar voice.

He stared worriedly while I quickly hugged him. It doesn't matter if you're still in the office; you can't stand the pain anymore.

"What's wrong, Netta?" he whispered while rubbing my back.

No longer able to speak, I just cried in his arms.

"What is it, honey?" he said again softly.

I let go of his hug to wipe away the tears. Now my face is not messy anymore. Aiden's soft hand stroked my wet cheek.

"Calm down. Everything is fine," he said, making me smile sweetly.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Aiden," I said when I realized where we were.

I immediately distanced myself from Aiden and asked permission to go to my room. Aiden was still looking at me with confusion, but never mind. It's also impossible to tell her everything that happened. I finally arrived at my oversized chair and slightly repaired the facial makeup my tears had wiped off.

"What’s Wrong?" Sonya popped her head from behind her cubicle next to mine.

"I'm fine, Sonya. I'm just a little tired," I replied.

"Are you sick?" he asked, sounding worried.

"No, it's not like that. Just a little tired today," I replied quickly before he sent the marketing division into a tailspin with his worries.

"You better rest, or maybe you want some hot tea?"

I shook my head and thanked him for his concern. Sonya finally chose to sit back in her chair.

The image came back. He pinned me up, his hands touching my face, the words in his voice constantly ringing in my ears.

God, why did it have to be like this? Why did he come back when my life was peaceful with Aiden and Regan? Why did he so quickly return to take over and dominate everything? God, I can no longer tolerate any of this.

I rubbed my face in exasperation until my reverie broke when I heard an incoming message on my cell phone.

Aiden

"Are you okay?"

I'm not calm and worried about you leaving like that.

I realized that this was too much to make Aiden worry. I immediately replied to Aiden's message and said I was fine; I was thinking about Regan. After responding to Aiden's letter, I focused on the work waiting for me and tried to banish all the images from my mind.

It was already five o'clock in the afternoon; that was a sign that you could go home. All the scattered equipment on the table was cleared, and I immediately grabbed the bag—an incoming message. A message from Aiden said he was working overtime because he met with several of the company's shareholders at half past seven. I understand and will go home alone. Aiden has been busy lately. So it's no wonder he rarely comes to the house or walks me home.

After a while, I also noticed that I didn't see Sonya. Where is he? Usually, if I don't go home with Aiden, he will take me home using the bus or taxi. However, who knows where the child is now? I rushed into the elevator that opened to go down and waited a moment thinking; everything passed so fast, then the elevator door opened. I walked into the office lobby and towards the door. However, my steps stopped when I saw the heavy rain outside. I didn't know what to do because I didn't have an umbrella, and I couldn't wait for the rain to stop because Regan would be waiting for me.

I had to go through the rain using a bag as a head protector. It nevertheless continued to run along the sidewalk in the wind-swept, heavy rain to reach the bus stop.

"Ahh!"

Before I got to the bus stop, I screamed because a luxury car splashed a pool of muddy water all over my clothes. The luxury car stopped in front of me, and soon the driver got out of the vehicle using a black umbrella. My hands clenched even tighter when I saw Davero approaching.

"Oops. Sorry, Agnes. I didn't do it on purpose," he said innocently as he stood before me.

I just snorted in annoyance because I didn't want to respond to anything and chose to leave immediately.

"Agnet!" Davero said while I flinched as he grabbed my wrist. "Come in! I'll take you."

I waved my hand vigorously in refusal and said, "No need, sir. Thank You. Excuse me."

I rushed to leave, but again he took my arm. "As your boss, I order you to get in the car, Agneta!" said Davero with such pressure that it was hard for me to swallow.

Like it or not, I obeyed his orders by getting into the car. He caught up and threw his umbrella into the backseat, quickly getting ready to drive the vehicle. This heart feels like it is beating very fast and even suffocating. I don't know what it feels like, but everything remains the same as five years ago. Everything is still beating fast, my blood is racing, and I wouldn't say I like it. Yes, I hate it!

"Eh?"

I gasped. Suddenly, Davero was about to wipe my cheek with a tissue.

“Since then, you have daydreamed. I want to clean the stains on your neck and cheeks," he said.

I immediately took a new tissue and cleaned the stain myself. Davero sighed and threw away the tissue he was holding carelessly.

"So, where should I take you?" Davero asked, breaking the silence.

"Until the next intersection."

"Not the street, but your house. I don't like dropping off a woman on the side of the road," Davero said.

His words disgusted me. Just say you want to sleep with the woman you're dropping off. Damn it!

"Now where else?"

"I'll just get off here," I said.

"Fine, if you don't want to say it. That means you're coming home to my apartment."

"What!" I gasped in shock at his remarks, which made no sense.

"Tell me quickly, Agneta!" He glanced at me with one eyebrow raised.

"Right," I replied sarcastically.

Damn, he grinned smugly enough to make me sick. Hopefully, Regan is still at Sonya's, so Davero doesn't see her. I am not ready.

"Now where?"

"Enter the gate in front."

"You live in a settlement?" asked Davero, frowning as he drove through the arch.

"Where do you think I will live? Apartments or luxury housing, right?" I quipped.

Davero frowned even more at the muddy, damaged, and dirty streets. I knew he wouldn't want to go to a place like this, so I hoped he'd give up walking me home.

"Stop at that brown house!" I said, pointing towards the house I rented.

Davero stopped the car and asked, "You live in this house?"

"Yes, Master Davero. This is my home. My palace," I said as I rushed down the road without saying thank you. After all, he forced me.

I walked to the house door and put the Key in the lock.

"It's very dirty in here."

That comment shocked me, and I immediately turned around. It turned out that the crazy human was following me.

"What do you want now?"

"I?" Davero asked while pointing at himself, making me roll my eyes.

"Of course, you are, Master Davero. Why follow me? You better get going," I growled.

"I've taken you all the way. Won't there be a thank you and an offer of tea for me?" Davero asked casually, putting his hands into his trouser pockets. "Thank You. Now go home. I don't have tea stock at home," I said, trying to shoo him away.

"Water is not a problem. There's no way there's no stock of water, right?" He said it was more relaxed and annoying.

What can I do? I lost badly. This asshole makes me want to grab him, always as he pleases.

"Are we just going to chat outside like this?"

I grunted in annoyance and opened the door, knowing that serving this one human would only make my emotions rise.

He barged in and sat on the sofa. As he laid his feet on each other, he said, "It's fresher and smells nicer here than outside."

I didn't respond and kept walking toward the kitchen to get some water for him. I thought about just serving tap water so he would have a stomach ache and give up coming here again. However, what if it caused an infection in his intestines, and I was also charged with the motive of poisoning someone? I reversed my intention about the tap water.

Finally, I chose a gallon of water to be served to him. There was only tea for him if he picked the tea leaves himself.

"This. Quickly finish it and go home," I said, keeping the glass on the table before Davero.

"Okay. I'll be leaving after this drink is finished," he said, then grinned. "By the way, how long have you lived here? Why did you move from Semarang?"

"None of your business," I said sarcastically, still standing.

"I am your boss. It's natural for me to know about my own employees. I don't want to have employees who are not clear, like terrorists. Later, my company will go bankrupt," he said indifferently as he took a glass to take a tiny sip.

I was stunned to hear his story. Can someone assist me in removing this one individual from my home? Unfortunately, there isn't.

"You can ask that directly to the HR managerial section," I said.

"I want to ask each employee directly. Data can be manipulated."

God, I'm exhausted from conversing with this annoying man. I can only answer that.

"I've lived here for five years but only joined your company about three years ago. The reason I moved from Semarang is none of your business."

"You haven't changed, Neta."

I'm just silent.

"I always like to see you talk at length. You look so adorable." His words sickened me and made me nervous.

Why is it like this, anyway?

"Mommy!"

Damn it!!

Regan came home.

"Mom!" I saw Regan run to me and hug me.

"Ha-hi, honey." I returned the hug and glanced at Dave, who was watching us.

"Mom, Aunt Ilen didn't come in because there was a car in front. So Auntie just hung up on Egan until the end," he babbles.

"Your son?" Davero broke the awkwardness.

Regan turned to Davero; they looked at each other and studied each other.

"Regan." I quickly diverted my son's attention. "Come on, say hi to Uncle Dave!"

"Yes, Mom." Regan walked over to Davero, who was still staring at Regan intensely. It makes this heart beat faster and want to jump out of place.

"Hello, Uncle Dave. My name is Egan." Regan said it with a comprehensive, childish grin and chubby cheeks.

Davero was frozen in place, still staring at Regan, and so stiff when Regan reached out his hand for a kiss.

"You are married?" Dave asked, much to my relief that Davero didn't seem to notice any resemblance.

"I guess it's none of your business," I said firmly.

"Mom, Egan is going to badroom," Regan said.

I nodded and let Regan into her room. It was better than him staying here and making the man suspicious and realize something.

"Agneta, are you married?" asked Davero in a growling voice.

"Not your business!" He responded, which surprised me. "It seems you have to go home, Mr Wiratama, because I have to take care of my son."

He stared at me until he finally looked away when he said he was going home. I watched his movements as he got up from the couch and walked out of the house. I finally breathed a sigh of relief when I heard the roar of a car driving away. I felt my heart was almost out of my mouth, and half of my life was gone. I felt fragile.

When will everything last? Gradually, he will realize who Regan is. I'm not ready for that, Lord!
