Jihoo woke up feeling so in love as he felt it was time, it was time for him to take his relationship with Haerin to the next level, he got dressed looking so handsome even if he wasn’t the most good-looking man in the wolf pack, he was hardworking, a kind man, a man who was willing to go to the ends of the earth for the woman he loved.
On his way to her house, he got a text message and when he checked his phone, the message read “Your best friend and girlfriend are in a secret relationship and are currently at her house” he laughed when he read it as he knew it had to be a joke or a prank text so he ignored it and went all the way to his girlfriend Haerin’s house.
At Haerin’s house
When he got to the door of her house, he entered because he had a spare key, when he got in, he saw her slippers and a male shoe at the entrance, he looked at the shoe as it looked familiar, then he remembered it was the same shoe he got his friend for his birthday.
At that moment, he flashed back to the text he got as he clenched his fist because there could really be some truth to it, he walked in as he heard their voices, they sounded so happy together as he walked into the room. The room was filled with so much tension as Jiho stood there frozen at the doorway, his heart sinking like a stone in his chest. Before him was his girlfriend, in bed with his best friend laughing and in each other’s arms as their laughter rang in his ears like a cruel mockery.
Then she turned as she saw Jihoo standing at the doorway of the room, she had no remorse whatsoever on her face as she said to him “What’s the matter, Jihoo? Can’t handle seeing a real man in action?” Haerin taunted Jihoo with a malicious smirk twisting her lips as she tossed her hair back with a disdainful flick.
Minho his friend chuckled, his voice dripping with smugness “Yeah, Jihoo, maybe if you spent less time sulking and more time hitting the gym you wouldn’t be such a disappointment to her” they both laughed as they made a mockery of Jihoo.
He was so hurt as he clenched his fist at both hands, his blood boiling with a toxic mix of rage and heartbreak, “How could you do this to me, Haerin I loved you so much and you know that. I work so hard so I can provide you with the lavished life you want to live so bad. I hardly ever do much for myself because whenever the money comes in, you are the first person I think of so why did you do this to me”.
Haerin sighed as she rolled her eyes, a look of contempt flashing across her face as she said “Please Jihoo, spare me the melodrama” he looked at her surprised that she would say something so mean to him as she continued “You were never really enough for me, you never satisfied me in bed, you never really got me the things I wanted, yes you spent a few dollars on me, but they were never really enough whereas Minho here is the real catch, handsome, charming, everything you are not”.
Jihoo sighed as he looked at her and asked “Why, why did you do this, if something was wrong in our relationship why didn’t you just tell me what was wrong, instead you decided to go with my friend”. Minho smirked, his gaze raking over Jihoo with undisguised disdain, “Yeah, sorry to break it to you, buddy, but you never stood a chance against me, you know I always get whatever I want when I want to and I told you I liked your girlfriend, what did you think of course I was going to get her. You can’t even imagine how good he is in bed, should I give you the details”. Minho chuckled as he had a self-satisfied grin.
Jihoo’s heart shattered into a million pieces as he turned around and walked away from them as he was leaving the house then Haerin called out to him, he turned to look at her as she said “Please close the door after you when you leave”, he scoffed as he turned and left the house and did what she asked of him as he closed the door and left.
He stumbled out into the cold night as he felt the ring, he got for her in his pocket as he brought it out, looking at it and then he threw it away. He was so heartbroken he didn’t see the stone right in front of him so he stumbled on it and fell to the ground. While on the ground he cried as he said “Why, why did she do this to me, I loved her with everything I had, my heart, my life everything and yet she cheated me this way.
Some people saw him on the floor as they helped him up, so he walked away from them with tears in his eyes, they watched him leave as he walked towards the main road. He was too lost in his thoughts as he didn’t see the truck coming towards him and before he knew it, he was on the floor. An ambulance arrived shortly and they rushed him to the hospital where it was confirmed that Jihoo was dead.
IN THE AFTER LIFE
Jihoo woke up as he had a black cloth on, everywhere was beautiful as he looked around wondering where he was, he saw a lineup of people walking towards a gate and he saw another line up towards another, he didn’t know where to follow as he asked one of the people going towards the left and they said to him “This is the afterlife and we are going to face judgement”.
He looked at the man as he wondered what he was saying, then he saw some people dressed like the devil taking some people forcibly into a pathway as the man there said to him “Oh! those are the grim reapers, they are ushering the dead sinners to hell where they belong” the man looked at Jihoo from head to toe as he said to him “Wolf or human”, “Wolf” Jihoo said as the man said “Oh! this place you are standing is for the humans and the other line is where wolves are to stand” Jihoo nodded as he walked towards where he saw some of the wolves who had passed standing as they awaited their judgement.
Jihoo sighed as he wondered to himself where will I end up, the underworld or the wolf heavens, then it got to his turn as the man at the front looked at him and said to him “I can’t send you to either hell nor heaven you have a debt to pay” he looked as he was surprised wondering what that could mean, then a tall dark man came forward, dressed in white as he came towards Jihoo and asked that he follows him.
Jihoo followed him as he walked into a room, everywhere was white and spotless as he saw people walking around the place, he saw some people in their wolf forms walking around as he saw a familiar face, he saw his parents. He smiled as he wanted to run over to them but the young man, he was with stopped him and said “Your parents are here because they were good wolves and if you want to be here too then let’s hope for the best”.
The man took Jihoo to an office, there he saw some elderly looking men and women with some young people seating at a table as he walked in standing there like he was to face judgement, he was surprised because he would always hear of them as folktales, ‘The wise elder wolves’ but seeing them here made him feel like he had fulfilled one of his childhood dreams but at what cost.
