Chapter 1 When Love Changes

There is a legend that states that once upon a time, a man who lived in poverty and misery sought the God of darkness to make him become an influential individual and have power. But he had no idea that the God he met at the time was a nasty devil.

The devil promised the man that he could have anything he desired as long as he accomplished what he was instructed. When the full moon night came, the devil instructed the poor guy that he had to take a kid from the Holy line who had the power to control the fire element to the Black Hill and eat his heart there. The devil produced a knife composed of black shadows, which the unfortunate human being might use to murder the baby.

The poor man was initially hesitant to follow out the instructions he provided. He realized that a baby with fire-control abilities had to be a royal descendent; how could he possibly take a baby from a king? When he envisaged having to kill and devour the heart of an innocent baby, his conscience shook. The cunning demon, on the other hand, did not want the man's morals to get in the way of his plans.

He incites and persuades the man that the existence of an elemental controller who dominates the world will be the cause of the planet's destruction and slaughter. In the future, someone will strive to seize complete control of that element in order to become God by slaughtering innocent people.

The devil also showed the man's soul pseudo-images of the conflict that would be caused by a baby capable of commanding the power of the elements. As a result, the devil persuaded the guy that if he could kill the infant, he would be the hero who rescued their world. The devil also demonstrated to the impoverished guy that a hero will be able to live with a treasure and will not have to endure hunger, which had tormented his existence. His life is not only prosperous, but he is confident in his ability to make his entire family happy.

The devil's smart verbal creating phrases, as well as the shadows of brilliance that appeared in his eyes, ultimately tempted the poor man. He does everything in his ability to complete his covert assignment. At the time, he learned that the King's beloved concubine was in a mountain rest house due to health issues. The concubine is expecting a child and will give birth outside the palace soon. The poor man went straight to the concubine's house and set guard around it.

The night of the full moon was approaching, and the poor man was concerned because the baby had not yet been born. He was concerned that he might miss the full moon night, causing all of his plans to fall apart. In his feelings of despair, he was interrupted by the sound of a baby crying, which broke the twilight. His heart leapt with joy. He could see a servant carrying the newborn to be washed up from outside the wooden building. The man calms down and follows the servant with rapid speed and an invisible presence.

The servant entered a room where warm water was already on the table. The middle-aged women placed the infant on the table and was preparing to wash away the blood stains. But she hadn't had time to react when she was violently thrown over from behind and stabbed in the heart. With the blade he obtained from the devil, the guy murdered the servant.

When the servant's blood met the knife in his hand, a red glow flared around it, then spread and entered the man's body. A piercing spark emerged from the radiance of the poor man's eyes at that very moment. The servant died instantly at the hands of someone she had never seen before. The impoverished man then approached the baby and looked him in the eyes. The man was moved to admiration by the innocent face of such an adorable creature. But the knife in his palm had turned crimson again, and the steely sparkle in his eyes had returned. He took the baby's little body and drove him to the Black Hills without thinking.

When a man ruthlessly stabbed the chest of a young innocent baby, the full moon was high in the sky. He ripped the small body apart and took the heart, eating the raw meat guilt-free. The demon laughed heartily as he realized the poor man had done such a nasty thing in front of him. He just misled the poor man and turned him into another demon.

Following the devil's laughter, the poor man felt an awful agony in his chest. He thrashed on the ground, his fingernails and toenails becoming long and sharp over time. Not only that, but long fangs sprouted from his mouth, and his body began to fill with dense black fur. The human figure had transformed into a wolf in the middle of a full moon in a matter of minutes. Because of his atrocities, he was cursed to become a werewolf, which became a symbol of his union with the devil. That is what prompted the general population to refer the werewolves as the blood descendants of the Damned.

Thousands of years have elapsed since it occurred. But werewolf legends are still spoken today, and they instill enmity in the hearts of those who hear them.

Seventeen years have gone since the departure of the monarch of Hwon Kingdom, who chose to migrate to a distant location and was replaced by his older sister, Queen Siera, the sole female sovereign. Since her brother's departure, the queen, who chose to marry her devoted servant, has ruled the Hwon Kingdom with the help of her husband, Gwi. Both of them rule the kingdom with great love and affection, with the wish to see the Hwon Kingdom become peaceful and wealthy.

The atmosphere around the royal capital of Hwon seemed as lively and pleasant as it had always been. Hwon Kingdom society engages in market activities such as buying and selling. Several men were sitting together and discussing a variety of topics on a food booth on the fringes of the market when one of them started talking about the new king who governed the Hwon Kingdom. The werewolf King Gwi.

"Have you heard that King Gwi is actually a werewolf?" one of the brown guys said of his companions.

"I don't know what the Queen thought so she chose the king of the werewolf race, isn't that very worrying? What if in the end the king instead becomes a threat to the survival of us all?"ask another tall man. Some of his friends seemed anxious to hear that sentence. Their history with the werewolf race is not a happy story.

"I'm not sure what the Queen was thinking when she chose the king of the werewolf race; isn't that very concerning? What if, in the end, the king becomes a threat to our national survival?" asks another tall man. Some of his friends appeared to be dreading that sentence. Their relationship with the werewolf race has not been a nice one.

"But King Gwi was once the strongest and loyal commander in the kingdom, and he had been with the Queen since she was a child. There have been no bizarre incidents in Hwon Kingdom for hundreds of years. I don't think we need to be concerned about this," one of the wisest-looking men replied.

"However, werewolves are extremely cunning creatures! We simply cannot believe it. What if the werewolf actually misled and deceived the Queen?"another man joined in.

"Braakkk!!"Suddenly, a dish was placed in a wooden bowl, which was haphazardly set on the table. All the men at the table looked at the individual who had just put their food on the table without manners.

"What are grown men like you doing here in the middle of the day here? You don't work, you don't safeguard the country, and yet you speak ill about the King? What if a royal guard overheard you talking bad about the King?"The owner of the food stall, a middle-aged mother, chastised customers who showed contempt for their king.

"But it's all based on reality!"One of the males was attempting to defend himself.

"All right, well! If it's true that King Gwi is a werewolf, then why? Even the former king had made him a devoted ally. Have you ever had the opportunity to meet the King in person? The King's devotion and care for the Queen are not mere rumors! King Gwi is a warm and loving man," defended the middle-aged woman to their king.

True, aside from the rumors regarding ruler Gwi's true nature as a werewolf, there are other aspects about the new ruler of Hwon Kingdom that are quite familiar. The King's charitable giving is undeniable. The king and queen are going to inspect the neighborhood on a regular basis to assess the state of society as a whole. They even established a free hospital for needy families and made certain that no one in their community went hungry. It would be unjust to focus on the King's werewolf status without recognizing all that he has done for his people.

"Let's just entrust everything to our new leader, after all, they're the ones who rebuilt this Kingdom and saved us from Binju," continued the short man next to the tavern's owner. The word worked in keeping the individuals who had previously gossiped about the King quiet. No one realized that there was a woman under a veil who had been hearing conversations concerning their monarch for a long time. The woman's eyes were piercing and frightening, like those of a predator on the hunt.

"King Gwi?" she asks before leaving the store, the girl was quiet.

Meanwhile, in Hwon royal palace, a tall and muscular man stood alone on a high tower, peering around the palace via binoculars installed there. The dashing and gorgeous man gazed about at the tiny kids who were running around and playing with their buddies. A genuine smile appeared on his lips as he noticed the joy in the children's eyes.

"Is it really so much fun watching people through those binoculars?"A woman's quiet voice emerged from behind the man. He turned to find the source of the sound and discovered an elegant woman with a tiara crown in her hair. The man is King Gwi, the current ruler of the Hwon Kingdom. When he saw the woman in front of him, the king's visually pleasing face lit up with a gentle glance and a genuine smile.

"My queen, will you join me in observing our people?" the King asked, extending his hand to Siera. The Queen grinned at her husband's casual gesture. She extended her hand and took the King's hand in hers. Siera then attempted to emulate her husband's normal duties by viewing the surroundings via the King's binoculars.

"Why do you spend so much time watching people like this?" inquired the Queen.

"I simply don't want to be left out if any of our people suffer. I want to make sure everyone is content and affluent. That is why I am happy to watch them from here," the King stated solemnly. She smiled at the thoughtfulness of the guy she cherished.

She tightened her grip on Gwi's arm. The Queen was grateful that she had married a guy with an affectionate spirit like Gwi. Throughout their seventeen-year reign, Gwi constantly made serious efforts for the prosperity of his people. Despite this, the Queen is well aware that many people are still unable to accept Gwi's rule due to his true identity as a werewolf. She could only hope that everyone saw her husband's honesty and welcomed him as their leader with open arms.

Queen Siera stretched her hand and tightly gripped Gwi's fingers. He then placed her head on the King's big, muscular shoulders. She wished that something like this could last forever. She prayed that nothing would change between them and that their love would endure indefinitely. Is it all possible, though? However, everything evolves and changes through time, including a person's perspective and heart. Situations and conditions never before imagined can transform everything, including love. But can love still be termed as love when it begins to change?

"The people on the northern border want to break away from the government of His Majesty Hwon Kingdom," one of the ministers reporting at a board of minister meeting at the Royal Hall remarked. The statement caused Gwi brows to furrow. This is not the first time this has happened, and he has used a number of methods to defend their kingdom's borders and safeguard his people. But why does it constantly seem insufficient?

"Then only war is our last resort," said the King, giving his final verdict.

The queen, who was present in the room, objected to her husband's decision. Gwi was not a heartless man who would readily decide to fight his own people. Why did the man who was so full of affection suddenly become heartless?

"Isn't it too soon to make a decision about war, my king? We may be able to find new ways to cope with them." Siera attempted to express her concerns to the King.

"I've made my decision," Gwi stated flatly, without looking at Siera. He has plainly rejected his wife's point of view and has concluded his argument.

Siera can only glance at Gwi with a melancholy expression; for some reason, her husband's attitude has shifted recently. He is continuously attempting to dismiss her concerns and persuade herself that everything is okay. But it appears that what she is terrified of is the reality she must face.

Gwi's encounter with an anonymous lady he met in the midst of the forest a month ago has become a watershed moment that begins to change everything.
