Jeremy found her during lunch and decided to spend it with her. She was sweet, smart, and the best thing she was blissfully unaware of the things lurking in their small town.
Jeremy didn't make many friends. Most of his friends are those of his sister's, and they were all involved in the supernatural drama surrounding their life.
Danny was a breath of fresh air to him. He could see a friend in her. That was why he had asked her to hangout at the Grill after school.
Preferably away from them.
He didn't want his sister or their friends to be involved with Danny. He wanted her to be his friend. He wanted to protect her from the knowledge that was burdening them all.
When the school day was over, he found himself walking with Daniella towards the parking lot.
"Can you believe this ass! It's the first day and he already hates my guts" Jeremy has been groaning his complains about Mr. Harold, their biology teacher, since they left the class.
Having the last period with Daniella gave him a good insight about her. She's a total nerd! He thought barely containing his chuckle.
Shrugging her shoulders as they came closer to her car. "He kinda is, but he's also a pretty good teacher". When they arrived at her car she went to open the door, but not before giving Jeremy a knowing look, "Maybe if you didn't try to make a target out of his back for your pencil, he wouldn't have hated you as much"
Her tone was kind of teasing and light. She was still awkward and slightly tense, but she was definitely more relaxed than she had been at the beginning of the day.
Once she unlocked the car Jeremy opened the door of the passenger side and got in, Daniella doing the same.
"You're totally taking his side" He blamed her and feigned a pout.
Daniella chuckled, shaking her head at him. "Yeah right. I mean what kind of teacher should be bothered by this childish behavior"
His heart never felt lighter. It had been so long since he had a playful conversation and for a moment he forgot the worries of the originals, Klaus, Stefan, Damon, and his now hybrid friend, Tyler.
They arrived at the grill together and both were laughing. Well, he was laughing at her while she groaned with a furious blush on her face.
Mr. Harold's had insisted that she introduced herself in front of the class, and told them to ask her questions.
The funny part came when one of the jokes asked her if she'd join the cheerleaders because he could only imagine how that tiny body of hers could flex.
"It was so embarrassing! I'm glad he got a week worth of detention"
Jeremy chuckled and teasingly said, "You get flustered easily"
Words died down in his throat and he didn't even hear what Danny said when his eyes caught the sight of Damon at the bar staring intently at her.
He raised an eyebrow at the vampire, but shook his head
He raised an eyebrow at the vampire, but shook his head. He couldn't tell what caught Damon's interest in his new friend, but he hoped the vampire didn't find her an appealing meal.
He shook his head, scanning the place with his eyes, and found Caroline with Bonnie together in one booth then he noticed his sister coming out of the bathroom and heading to Damon.
"You were not joking when you said most of the school hangs around here" Daniella interrupted his thoughts when she commented with her amused tone.
Jeremy opted for a shrug and guided Danny to a booth away from the others. Preferably they wouldn't approach them.
"They made mad burgers around here" Jeremy encouraged her with a grin.
They fell back into an easy conversation: joking, teasing, and even mocking sometimes. Both had the same thought, to finally have a friend.

"Mind if we join you?" Elena asked the two with a smile on her face, behind her stood Bonnie and next to her Caroline.
Daniella tilted her head slightly to the side when she noticed Jeremy's reluctance to joint his sister and their friends.
He, of course begrudgingly, had to give in and allow them to sit down. Jeremy narrowed his eyes at his sister, he could tell that Elena was up to something.
"So, why move to our small town?" Caroline's cheerful voice cut through the staring contest between the siblings.
Daniella rubbed the back of her neck slightly and lightly said, "Guess my mom was just tired of the big city"
"Big city? Where did you use to live?" Elena was the one who threw the question.
"New York"
"And you only live with your mom?" Bonnie asked, and it was then that Jeremy decided to get involved.
He knew this wasn't them being friendly or welcoming. It was an interrogation, and while Danny had the good heart to not suspect it, he wouldn't accept it.
Before Jeremy could actually say anything, Danny smiled and nodded at Bonnie's question. "We've only had each other for so long"
"So, did anyone catch your eye?" Caroline asked her with a wiggle of her eyebrow.
"Nope" Daniella made her answer short and nonchalant but she still put a smile on her face.
Her cheeks hurt from the fake smile she was forcing on her face. She was cool with Jeremy, like really cool. He wasn't the prying type and they just talked.
However, the same cannot be said about his friends. She resisted the urge to scowl when Bonnie fired another question at her.
"And there's no one back home?"
Daniella had the grace to chuckle softly and shook her head, "Nope".
She got the feeling that Bonnie wasn't really her biggest fan, something she found strange considering they've never met before.
She was surprised when that same girl reached for her hand on the table as of checking her nails.
Daniella looked at their joined hand taken aback by the action, but when her eyes went to Bonnie's face she was confused and slightly worried.
Bonnie had her eyes closed and her face gave off some great pain that she was feeling. Her eyes snapped open, widened while staring at Danny, a clear look of fear, and she pulled her hand away hurriedly.
Bonnie grabbed her bag and literally took of running out of the place, leaving a frozen Jeremy and a panicked Elena and Caroline.
Jeremy gave Danny a side glance and furrowed his eyebrows, could it be you're not human, Danny?

He noticed her; it was the second she entered the place that his gaze were pulled to her. It was like she was the sun pulling him with its gravity.
Damon Salvatore stared at the unknown face while she blushed at something that Jeremy had said.
There was something about her and he wanted to know more.
He knew he shouldn't.
He had enough on his plate as it is.
His brother was an emotionless vampire blood junky, serving the evil hybrid who tried to kill them all.
Elena...
The complication of their feelings, of their shared kiss when he was on his death bed, and his loyalty to his brother. Her name alone held too many things that should be enough to dwindle the intrigue he felt.
