"Stay where you are, I'll be right there," Martin told me, sounding furious as I explained what had happened to me in the hospital. He arrived a few minutes later, his face contorted in anger. He threatened to sue the hospital and report this crime to the council. He paced the room in anger, threatening everyone in the building, his aura getting darker with each threat.
Good thing he came with his sister Mira. She walked up to me and threw her arms around me, hugging me tight. I felt comfortable in her arms, and I found myself sniffing her body repeatedly. It wasn't her scent, but it clung to her like an aura, drawing me in. I felt better after those few minutes in her arms, and I couldn't say why.
"How are you feeling, Allie? Do you need anything?" she asked me on the drive home. But I shook my head as all I wanted was to head home and fall asleep in my bed. I found out after he left that he cheated me on the divorce settlement. He practically took everything from me, including the two estates I inherited from my grandmother.
Ariana and my brothers had inherited much more from Grams. But she still watched him take them away from me. I guess she thought I would let them get away with it like I always did. No way!
Not this time!
"All you have is your grandmother's old house and farm, Allie. Are they expecting you to live in that old farm with a child they forcefully put in your womb?" Mira asked in anger, her anger rising like her brother's.
"Don't beat yourself up too much, Mira. I think I know what to do," I let out boldly, smirking to myself. Luckily, the guys sent to retrieve my car were able to get it out without a fight. I thought Ariana would try to stop them, but I was informed that my sister and Williams are on a vacation to celebrate his divorce and plan a grand wedding.
"The guest room is empty since we moved in and we don't usually have visitors. It's just Mira and I living in this house. You can stay in the guest room for as long as you want to. We are thrilled to have you here," Martin told me. I smiled my thanks, accepting to spend the night here.
"I can't stay, Marty. When William finds out that I have taken back what he stole from me, he would come for me, and you two could get hurt. You two cannot protect me from him, and I don't want to drag you into plots for revenge. I will leave the city in the morning. I just need to put up my estates and farmhouse for sale.
I have some money saved up, but I may still need the extra cash before I find another job," I told him, smiling warmly to reassure him.
"Why don't you just meet up with Alpha Raymond Fireheart? He's my boss, and I know for a fact that he will protect you the same way he protected my brother and me when everyone banished us and called us rogues. He welcomed us into his pack and gave us a fresh start. He is such a good man, so perfect and charming," she told me, giggling excitedly and making it sound like he is a guardian angel or something.
"She asked me to set up a meeting with Alpha Ray, but he is out of reach for now. I tried to set up the meeting, but I couldn't get through to him," Martin responded, sounding disappointed. Mira also sighed heavily, wishing I could see him before I left tomorrow.
"This Alpha Raymond Fireheart you speak so highly of. Is he related to the same Billionaire Firehearts that control the seaports and own the biggest construction company in the country?" I asked in surprise, my heart beating softly.
"Yeah, that's the one. I'm his lawyer, and Mira is an accountant in his company. She just got the promotion last month," Martin responded proudly, making my mouth open in shock as I realized that I just hit the last nail on my coffin with my own hands. Like, how is this even possible? How can one person be as unlucky as I am?
To be sure, I was not mistaken. I dug through my stuff in my car, pulled out my laptop, and reviewed the documents I saved. I had a quick bath while I waited for the downloaded documents. When I checked back on my laptop, the documents were fully downloaded, and I was right all along. This is the same person I'd sabotaged his business just to promote my husband's company.
For five years, I have played this guy, downgrading his company and making him lose several contracts to my husband. Each time he won the contract, Williams came home in anger, whining about it all week and acting all crazy and destructive. Recently, I'd practically told lies about his company to promote my husband's company, and Williams got the biggest contracts of his career.
I bet it's the money he's using to treat my sister to a vacation to celebrate our divorce. If this Alpha is everything Martin and Mira are talking about, then I need to rectify this situation immediately because I'll definitely need him before this war between Williams and I is over.
"Guys, I've made a terrible mistake. I need to get to the office right now. I need to fix this mistake if I ever want to meet up with Alpha Raymond," I told them as I picked up my phone and dashed to the door.
"With the way you keep running around, Allie, I would have thought that you are trying to stress the life out of that baby. But then I remember that we are werewolves, and no amount of stress could flush out our pups because they are as tough as their parents," Mira joked as we got to the car.
I guess she has forgotten that I have no wolf and my pups may be as weak as I am. But, there is no use reminding her that. I mean, it's not my choice to have these babies, but I can't bring myself to hurt them either.
"So, what is this mistake you are talking about?" Martin asked me as he drove us back to Bluesky Brandworks. I explained everything I did to help Williams, and he felt so bad for me all over again. I could see the pity in their eyes, and it hurts to think that I put his happiness first when he never even cared for me.
"Do what you have to, Allie. But don't beat yourself up about it. I'm sure Alpha Ray would understand. He's different from the others," he told me, trying to cheer me up. I went into the company and back to my office in guise of clearing my table, but the CEO wouldn't let me work on the project anymore because I was leaving.
"You are one of my best marketing managers, Allison. I still need you on the team, even if it means doubling your paycheck and letting you work from home," he told me, giving me a chance to keep my job. I gladly accepted his offer, and I made sure we signed a new contract because I don't want to be screwed over. Not again!
After signing the new contract, I got access into my system again and I reviewed my old jobs, sighing as I saw all the hard work and dedication I put into that bastard's company. The first thing I did was change my reviews on his company. I made it clear that he is a liar and a cheat, and that his competence and integrity are questionable.
I secretly posted the bad reviews, making sure the government contractors he got the contract from could see it immediately. I know that with these reviews, they would cut down on his funding and let him finish the contract before he gets his money. Without their funding, he will resort to sourcing for funds to raise money for the job. His next step would be selling my estates to raise funds.
But it will be too late because he has the fake documents, I have the originals, and I'm selling everything before he returns from his vacation. This marks the beginning of my vendetta.
