Five years later.
"Mom, are you tired? Charles and I can protect you so you can take a nap."
I stroked my daughter Vivian's hair: "It's okay, Aunt Brown's home is almost here and we can rest as much as we want in her house."
Charles gave Vivian a look, "Vivi, you're the one trying to be lazy."
Vivian crossed her arms and shouted, "I'm not, don't talk nonsense, I'm just worried about mommy!"
Looking at the two tussling children, I couldn't help but laughing, taking their hands and continuing to walk outside the forest.
Five years ago, after I was banished by my father from the Burgundy Pack, I moved from Pennsylvania to Maryland and found my mother's old friend, Anna Brown.
Knowing I was pregnant, she took good care of me until I gave birth to Charles and Vivian, twins, and I always considered her a lifesaver.
It's been hard five years for me. Caring for my children has taken up all my energy, and fortunately they are cute and smart, assuring me a lot.
Especially my son Charles—he has the maturity beyond his age, excellent learning ability. He even helped me escaped from the rogues who tried to bully us with tricks several times, so I was tired but still happy.
But they have all reached the age of going to school, and I had to seek Anna's help again to join her pack so that my children could attend a werewolf school.
Also, I had to retrieve the pearl necklace my mother had left me.
I would not allow my mother's things to be left behind with the man who betrayed her.
After walking about two kilometers, we finally came out of the forest, and a white pickup truck was parked alone on the outskirts of the forest, and Anna, standing by the door, was waving excitedly to me.
"Rebecca! And the kids, I've missed you so much!"
"Aunt Brown!"
Seeing Anna, Charles and Vivian let go of my hand and rushed to Anna, wrapping both her thighs in a hug.
I walked up and greeted Anna: "Anna, it's been a long time."
Anna bent down to pick up Vivian and came up to kiss me on the cheek, "It's been a long time Becky, you've gotten a lot prettier again and the kids are getting prettier."
Vivi and Charlie were both good-looking, and although they are not yet grown up, I know that they will be handsome and beautiful in the future.
I gave Anna a hug, "You too, we're going to bother you again from today."
Anna carried Vivian to the car, while Charles had already climbed into the back seat, and let Anna carry Vivian to sit beside him.
Anna drove, I was supposed to sit in the passenger side but had to sit in the back to take care of the children.
I didn't know who they resembled. They were very active and energetic. Even if the road is bumpy they were still lying on the window to look out.
This way I could also distract myself from talking to Anna.
"Becky, are you going to the Misty Woods tonight for the mating rally?"
There was a mating rally in the Misty Forest tonight, and the Lang people from my father's Burgundy Pack would be there, so it was a good time for me to inquire about where the pearl necklace was going.
"Yes, so I'll leave vivi and Charles for you to take care of for one night."
"Don't worry." Anna reassured me, "You will be able to find the pearl necklace, don't worry about leaving the children to me."
I thanked Anna for her generosity and was about to lean back in my seat to rest when I saw a billboard on a skyscraper not far away with a person I knew well.
Linda Theron, the stepsister who caused me to be banished.
I knew that Linda was then a popular star and everyone spoke well of her, saying she was innocent and beautiful.
This was ridiculous.
The Linda I knew was beyond slutty—she seduced werewolves who already had mates into bed more than once. How could someone like that be praised for her innocence!
Did my father make her popular?
Thinking of the Alpha father who banished me, I fought back the tears I wanted to shed.
Linda and I were both Alpha's daughters, and she could become a big star, sought after by millions, while I could only be a rogue who wandered around.
Oh, and I even lost my mother's necklace.
But fortunately, I still have two cute and smart children.
"What are you looking at, so obsessed?" I hugged the two children who were still looking at the scenery, "Do you like Maryland?"
"Yes!" The children shouted together.
Vivian leaned over me and asked, "Mommy, can we live here all the time?"
I was a little hesitant because there were so many memories of my past here in Maryland that I didn't want to remember.
I asked Charles, "What about Charlie? Do you like Maryland?"
Charles didn't answer, just said, "I'll be where Mommy is."
But I could feel that he loved it here.
I stroked their cheeks to reassure them, "If you both like it, we'll be here all the time."
Vivian cheered and hugged me, "Yes!"
Unlike Vivian who likes to cling to me, Charles just kissed my cheek for a moment and leaned back to the car window to look at the view.
"Look, Mommy, this building is so tall!"
I followed his finger and looked out. A building as tall as the Empire State Building stood in the middle of the city, which must be the tallest building in Maryland.
Anna introduced us, "Yes, Charlie, that's the Ferrall family's property, and the building is the Maryland branch of the Ferrall Group."
The Ferralls are a royal family, and the current wolf king is named Matthew Ferrall, but few people know what he looked like.
But I heard that he was a very young and handsome man.
"Mom, can we go in for a tour?" Charles looked at me with looks of immense expectation.
"Honey, that's where the work is, and only people who work there are allowed in."
Charles patted his chest: "Then I will study hard and take mommy in for a tour later!"
I stroked Charles's head: "Sure, mommy will wait for you."
In the evening, I came to the Misty Woods alone.
It was even more lively than five years ago, and I saw at once Elizabeth, who was surrounded by people.
And standing next to her was the big star Linda, my stepsister.
It seemed that Linda had made a lot of money in the past five years. The clothes they wore were all luxury brands, and the jewelry on their hands and necks were set with diamonds and rubies, looking elegant and luxurious.
They were holding a glass of champagne and talking to others, and the others had flattering expressions on their faces.
I recognized that a few of those people were high ranking members of the pack, and they didn't used to fear my father, let alone Linda and Elizabeth.
But now why were they fawning over a star?
I stopped a short distance away to watch them, and Linda suddenly saw me with a look of disbelief.
She pushed past the crowd and walked up to me, questioning fiercely, "Rebecca, how dare you show up here!"
