“What?”
My eyes widened.
Even though i had guessed it, my heart still skipped.
“Why?” I asked subconsciously.
“Natasha is back” he said and my heart sink.
Natasha was Arthur’s childhood sweetheart. However, his grandfather never approved of their relationship and made him marry me instead.
“Why are you in a daze?” His deep and magnetic voice rang out.
I swallowed the lump in my throat as i looked at the man in front of me.
“Is it okay if we don't get a divorce?” My voice was gentle as usual, and my eyes held nothing but innocence and misery.
I stared at his eyes, searching for answers.
“You’re ridiculous Gwen. You know,if not for my grandfather,I wouldn't have married you." He said and I gulped down again. He was right.
He never loved me.
His feelings for Natasha never change even while he was with me.
But I’m pregnant now and he deserve to know.
I mustered courage and said, “Arthur, I'm pregnant.”
I watch his face darkened at once.
“What did you say?”
He asked and i trembled involuntarily at his manly voice.
I bit her lip and repeated, “I'm pregnant.”
“Get rid of it,” he said without hesitation and my mouth went agape.
“What?”
“I said get rid of it.” His handsome face was full of hostility.
“I'm not going to backtrack on my plan to divorce you just because of a baby. Besides, I don't want the baby to become a hindrance between Natasha and i.”
He said.
My face turned pale completely.
I had hoped that by telling him i was pregnant, he would accept the child and strengthen our marriage until now.
It looks like even a child can't change his decision. How could he tell me to abort the baby? What a cold-blooded man. The baby is his own flesh and blood.
I chuckled softly.
“Why are you laughing?” He asked.
“I'm not pregnant. I lied.
I had a smile on my face to hide the lie, but my heart was bleeding inside.
“You lied?” He asked angrily.
“That's right. If you don't believe me, why don't we go to the hospital for a body checkup?”
I muttered.
I balled my fist to calm myself.
“Good. I don't want the existence of a potential threat. Abort the baby if you're really pregnant. I'll give you an extra one hundred million so that you can do what's necessary for your health. Don't worry, it won't affect your... second marriage.”
Second marriage?
I gave a rueful smile.
“I'm really not pregnant, so you don't have to give me extra money. If you're worried, we can go to the hospital for a checkup.”
Arthur grabbed my chin.
“You better be telling the truth woman”he said and I groan from pains.
“I have no reason to lie to you. Do you honestly see me as the kind of woman who would use such vile methods?"
I flashed him a bitter smile.
He stared at me hatefully.
He grabbed my neck almost causing me to choke. He snorted in disgust.
“You manipulated my grandfather into trusting you so that you could marry me. So stop acting like you're some innocent girl. I won't buy it. A shameless opportunist like you can never compare to Natasha!"
An opportunist? Tricked his grandfather?
So, this was how he truly thought of me all along.
I let my tears flow as i struggle beneath him.
“You’re…..you’re hurting me Arthur” I shuttered.
He pushed me, causing me to fall hard on my butt.
“Ah!” I winced from the pains.
He tossed the divorce papers on me. I was feeling so much pains from the fall. My stomach hurts badly that I had to cling on it tightly.
"I have asked the lawyer to draft the divorce agreement.Take a look.If you have no objections, just sign it."he said.
"If there is anything you are not satisfied with in terms of property, just tell me” he muttered.
I lowered my head and took the document."Can you give me some time?"
“I will give you one week."
He muttered.
Suppressing my emotions and trying my best to keep calm, I nodded.
Without sparing me another glance, he turned and left the room.
I immediately burst into tears once he was out of the room.
So this was it?
My three years marriage has just ended.
Gosh! The pains was overwhelming. I felt the sharp pain from my stomach and immediately held it. Suddenly, I felt a liquid running down my inner thigh.
With shaky hands,I reached down and when I saw blood, I let out a pain filled scream.
“This can’t be!” I muttered, getting scared already.
“If anything happen to our child, I will never forgive you Arthur Winthrop!” I cursed in tears.

.
I sat in the hospital corridor, the tears kept running down my cheek no matter how much I tried to stop them.
“Why me?” I question no one in particular.
I felt empty. Not because of the heartbreak but cause of my baby.
I couldn’t believe I lost my baby.
For Pete sake, I just got to found out that am pregnant. It wasn’t up to a day and I have to lose it?
I’m never gonna forgive Arthur. This was what he wanted all along.
Hatred, pains and betrayal is all I felt right now.
“You gonna pay for this. I swear!” I muttered, staring at the divorce papers right in front of me.
I stare at the name of my husband in the document. I felt the heaviness and tighteness in my chest as I picked up my pen.
I read through it. Arthur was giving me a million dollar, his other Villa and the new sporty car.
I sighed and without hesitation, i signed my name at the designated area.
Finally, in a few minutes, the marriage which brought so much sadness was dissolved.
I held the divorce papers in my hand, feeling numb and disconnected from the world around me.
I helplessly dialed Arthur’s number and he picked at the second ring.
“Let’s see. I have signed the divorce papers” I said and for the few seconds, I heard nothing from the other end.
I knew I might have shocked him. I signed it earlier than expected.
“Very well then. Come to the office!” He reply and quickly hang up.
