Eve's Pov
“I promise I will make you my Luna,” These words were the exact words that cost me my throne.
I never believed he would ever break his promise, he betrayed me and sent wolves after me to kill me and dispose of my corpse.
He was supposed to be my mate, to protect me and love me and claim me as his. He was my escape from a life of loneliness, the life of an Alpha.
Our love was forbidden, he was a rogue and I was a warrior, the soon-to-be alpha of the Feral Heart Pack, one of the most powerful, biggest and richest packs in the continent.
In the fierce domain of Feral Heart Pack, I stood as the warrior princess, heir to the legacy of my powerful father, Alpha Kayden. Yet, in a twist of fate, I surrendered all I had fought for to the very man who vowed to claim me as his own but turned around and rejected me on the day of the rituals to coronate him as Alpha.
From the day I was born, I was destined to be the first Alpha Female of the Feral Heart Pack. I was raised to be strong, fierce, and uncompromising. I was trained to fight, hunt, and lead. My father, Alpha Kayden, was a respected and feared leader, and I wanted nothing more than to follow in his footsteps. But then, I met him.
My mate.
And that marked the beginning of my downfall.

Flash back (Four days back)
‘It's only four days more and I'll assume the throne of my father, to lead these people and protect them and to strengthen the Feral Heart Pack.’ I thought as my personal maid brushed my hair, applying different oil to it.
“Alpha, what troubles you tonight?” she asked as her fingers slowly massaged my hair.
I couldn't relay my fears now to her so I opted for another conversation however not far from what she had just said else she would realize my intentions. “There's no one here, call me Eve. Besides you're a human so you aren't exactly obligated to see me as your alpha.”
“I've been with you for sixteen years of my life, ever since you saved me,” she said, her eyes fixed on me through the mirror. A smile played on her lips. “So, yes, I very much think you are my Alpha.”
I could see the sincerity in her eyes, and it struck a chord within me. I'd saved her from a life of slavery many years ago, and she had stayed by my side ever since. She was the closest thing I had to a friend, even though I was her alpha. I reached out to her, squeezing her hand. “Thank you, Rosalie. Your loyalty means the world to me.”
She blushed and bowed her head. “Anything for you, Alpha."
I looked at myself in the mirror. Dark hair, green eyes. I was a young woman of twenty-two, and I already felt the weight of the world on my shoulders.
"Is this really what you want?" I whispered to my reflection.
I stood frozen in that moment, staring into the mirror, but the silence was broken when Rosalie spoke. "There is something troubling you, Alpha," she said, "I can see it in your eyes. Will you tell me what it is?"
I took a deep breath, trying to take in Rosalie's words. I needed to make a decision - to tell her what was on my mind or to keep it hidden. As I stood there, my thoughts racing, Rosalie spoke again. "I know you're struggling with something, Alpha. You don't have to tell me what it is, but I'm here if you need to talk."
I felt a wave of relief wash over me at her words. Rosalie had always been a steady presence in my life, someone I could count on. At that moment, I decided to take her up on her offer.
"Do you really think I'm worthy of this?" I asked, my voice full of doubt. "I've worked so hard to prove myself, but now I'm not sure it's what I want anymore. I want someone to love me, care for me, protect me, claim me, mark me. I want someone to be the father of my cubs." I stopped, waiting for Rosalie to say something, but all she did was stare at me through the mirror. My breath caught in my throat, and I felt a sense of hopelessness settle over me.
My words hung in the air, heavy with regret and self-doubt. I felt like a failure, like I was giving up on everything I had worked so hard for. But as I stared at my reflection, I saw the exhaustion in my eyes, the strain in my shoulders. Was it worth it to hold on to something that was making me miserable?
Rosalie's voice was gentle as she said, "You're not stupid, Alpha. You're a child of the moon. You have the right to want the things you want. You can be both a strong leader and a woman who wants a family."
Just as I was beginning to take in Rosalie's words, a sharp knock on the door shattered the silence of the room. I was still processing the words, but now my thoughts were overtaken by the insistent rapping on the door. My heart pounded in my chest as I tried to make sense of the situation. Rosalie seemed equally surprised, her eyes wide as she turned toward the door.
“This had better be serious else,” I let my words hang there as I stood up leaving behind Rosalie who was too frozen in place to do anything and walked over to the door unsheathing my sword on the way. As I opened the door, Beta Nathan dropped to the ground on one knee.
“Dude, what is wrong with you?” I began first, absolutely pissed off about the disturbance.
I could tell something was seriously wrong by the way Beta Nathan looked. His armor was dented and covered in dust, his sword was missing, and his face was scratched and bruised. His heavy breathing indicated that he had been engaged in combat, and the fact that he had called me "Alpha" showed that this was a serious situation.
He knelt before me, panting, and said, "I'm sorry, Alpha. I know this is not the best time, but I have grave news."
I drew in a deep breath, trying to keep my mind focused on the task at hand. "Tell me everything," I demanded.
"I've just come from the Northern Border," he said, struggling to catch his breath. "The Southern Pack has invaded our territory. They have burned down our villages, slaughtered our people, and taken many prisoners. The fighting is fierce, and we are losing men by the hour. We need your help."
I stood there, frozen in shock. The Southern Pack had always been a thorn in our side, but I had never imagined they would go this far. This was the last thing I needed right now. I was supposed to be preparing for the Alpha ceremony, not dealing with an invasion from the Southern Pack. My thoughts were racing, but I forced myself to focus on the task at hand. I needed to hear everything Beta Nathan had to say.
"It started a few days ago," he began, his words coming out in a rush. "We noticed strange activity at the border, but we didn't think much of it. Then, they attacked one of our villages, and we knew we had to act."
"We sent out scouts to investigate, but they never returned. We sent more scouts, but they met the same fate. The Southern Pack was clearly up to something, and we knew we had to act. But it was already too late."
My heart sank as I realized the gravity of the situation. The Southern Pack had taken advantage of our complacency, and now we were paying the price. "What happened next?" I asked, fearing the answer.
"The Southern Pack struck again, this time at one of our most important outposts. They killed everyone there, and then they set their sights on our "Our capital clan," Beta Nathan continued, his voice shaking. "They attacked without warning, and we were caught off-guard. They breached the borders and slaughtered our people, including many of our strongest warriors. They left nothing but destruction in their wake, and now they are headed for the pack house. We have to stop them, Alpha. We have to protect our people."
I felt a wave of anger and irritation wash over me. The Southern Pack had done the unthinkable, and now they were threatening everything we held dear. I had to act, and I had to act fast.
"Hold on," he said, holding out his hand to stop me. "Going into battle dressed like that is not a good idea. You need to be properly armored and equipped before you go out there."
He was right, of course. I was clad only in my nightgown, with my sword the only thing between me and the enemy. I knew I needed to be prepared for battle, but I also knew we didn't have time to waste.
I turned to him, fire in my eyes. "There's no time to lose. The Southern Pack won't wait for me to get fully equipped and battle-ready. Get me another sword and meet me out in the pack grounds. We are going to give those fools a taste of their own medicine."
My words were filled with anger and conviction, and I could see that Beta Nathan understood the gravity of the situation. "As you wish, Alpha," he said, a steely glint in his eyes.
I ran out of the room, my heart pounding in my chest. I could feel my wolf trying to break free, its rage burning in my veins, calling out for blood.
"Eve!" my father's voice echoed in my mind. "Don't let your emotions get the better of you. Control your wolf, or it will control you."
His words brought me back to reality, and I stopped in my tracks. I could feel my wolf thrashing against my mind, trying to break free, but I pushed back with all my strength. I wouldn't let my anger get the better of me. I had to stay focused and level-headed if I wanted to defeat the Southern Pack.
As I turned to face Beta Nathan, I saw the confusion on his face, his brows drawn together in concern.
"Let's go," I said, turning to leave. But as I did, I heard a crackling of bones, followed by a low growl. I turned to find a massive grey wolf with piercing blue eyes staring me down.
