Chapter 2 - Confused

Miss Shinning 1.9k words

Elbarack was stunned.

He looked at the brown folder ALana Frost that his wife had deliberately placed on the desk. At first, he didn't care. He was even trying to ignore it. But, over time, the curiosity was increasingly creeping into his brain.

Grabbing the folder, Elbarack slowly took out the sheets of paper neatly arranged in it. Start reading carefully the results of the examination that focuses on the content.

On the sheet, it is explained that the patient is in a healthy uterine condition. The series of tests undertaken include: The ovulation test, HSG test, hysteroscopy, and hormone tests also show that the patient is fertile and ready to be fertilized. That means if Elbarack marries this woman, the chances of having children are high enough to be successful.

Initially, having children was Elbarack's biggest dream when he was married. But, as time went by, he buried the plan. Vivian, his wife, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and had to undergo a hysterectomy or surgical removal of the uterus to stop the spread of cancer cells so they would not attack other vital organs. Because of this, too, Vivian could not produce offspring.

Please don't ask how devastated he and his wife were. Especially Vivian. The woman even insisted that she did not want to undergo surgery. And when her womb was completely elevated, this woman of Arab descent had been in a slump for days alone in her room.

Elbarack's great love for Vivian made the man agree not to make a problem for their household's offspring. He continues to explain that children are not a big problem that they have to debate.

However, recently his wife has been whining and even forcing Elbarack to remarry so he can have children like their Vivian Dreams..

I don't know where this crazy thought came from. Finally, a plan sparked in Vivian's brain to set El up with Alana. Even the woman was not accepting negotiations on this one request.

"El, have you picked up the practice schedule?" A voice from another man woke Elbarack from his reverie. He didn't even realize when his colleague had entered his office.

"Good God, Aleandro!" Elbarack jumped in surprise. "Greetings first, Grandpa. Just play as long as you enter,"

The man named Aleandro laughed nonchalantly. He preferred to pull up a chair and sit right across from Elbarack. He could see how annoyed his friend was at his sudden appearance.

"I've knocked on the door many times. You're the only one who doesn't answer. Even though I said hello loudly already," the man debated, not wanting to lose. It was Elbarack who did not hear.

"Why did you even follow me into the room?"

"Tsk!" The slender man chuckled. "I've been asking you, have you taken the practice schedule? The latest one has come out. It's just been shared."

Elbarack shook his head.

"Yesterday, when I wanted to take it, Asher had not signed it. So just let it go first, I'm wrong," replied the man.

Aleandro nodded. Then before long, he narrowed his eyes. He smelled a strange gesture shown by the man in front of him. Predictably, there's something the 35-year-old is thinking about."

"What are you thinking about right now? You seem so grumpy? You can really see it from your face. If you have a problem, just tell me. Who knows, I can help you as usual."

During this time, the two of them often exchanged stories. Ask each other for opinions when there is a whack problem. Be it work or personal matters. They have been friends for a long time, making Aleandro and Elbarack get to know each other.

"Your guess is correct." Elbarack took a deep breath and let it out slowly. He was trying to neutralize his feelings that were currently erratic.

"I'm having a headache, Fath. I don't know what to do."

"Headeche?" repeated Aleandro.

Elbarack then nodded twice.

"Hmm... My wife asked me to remarry."

Instead of being concerned, Aleandro laughed out loud. He was even mocking. He was so intrigued by what he had just heard. The man did not believe what Elbarack had just told him.

"No kidding," he replied, still laughing. "Do you want polygamy? Elbarack Knight is polygamous?" he repeated, ensuring it was even with emphasis.

Elbarack took another deep breath. Instead of being relieved, he was even annoyed now.

"Surely you don't believe it, right? All my life I have never even thought of having more than one wife, Fath. And now, suddenly my wife asks me to marry another woman."

Laughter was still etched on Aleandro's handsome face.

"Yes, you should be happy. You can have two wives without having to hide it."

Elbarack grinned. Just casually, his friend replied.

"The problem is, I'm not the type of guy who likes to share love. I don't even run out of one, instead I want to have two. Those that come later are even more of a hassle."

As a friend who has been friends for a long time, Aleandro knows Elbarack. From the beginning, this man has always been loyal to only one woman, Vivian Arinka Alatas, now his wife.

Suddenly receiving news that the man was being forced into polygamy, Aleandro was quite surprised. Yet as far as he knows, the household his best friend has lived in for nearly ten years has been running harmoniously. I had never even heard of a fight between the two of them. Because if there is a dispute, Elbarack can immediately end the quarrel so that it doesn't turn big or spread everywhere.

"Yes, why did Vivian force you to marry again?"

Elbarack looked up. Look closely at Alfathih's face. Once again, the man took a deep breath.

"That's all he did so I could have children."

"Oh God..." Aleandro sighed softly. This reason made his best friend grumpy all along. He knew that his best friend's wife could not conceive. "So how? You agree with your wife's request?"

Elbarack shook his head. The man's face turned sad. It was as if he was carrying a burden. It's so hard to do something we don't want to do.

"This is exactly what I've been thinking. I've tried to refuse, but Vivian still insists. If she does, I'm not ready. Rejected, she threatens to ask for a divorce."

"Oh, My God..." Aleandro shock. His friend's problem is complicated. "Okay, try asking Allah for guidance, El. What is certain is that whatever the decision, I hope it will be the best for your little family. It would be a shame if you got divorced. Everything can be discussed carefully without having to choose to separate."

Elbarack nodded in agreement. He is determined to continue to keep his household intact.

"I love Vivian. It's impossible to divorce her either. No matter what she lacks, I still accept it. But, I'm really not ready to marry again, Al."

Aleandro was dizzy hearing her friend's story. Before he could respond, there was a knock on the door. A nurse came in and conveyed some information to both of them.

"Doctor El and Doctor Aleandro, were asked by Doctor Asher to appear right now. He said, they want to evaluate work as well as discuss the practice schedule."

Elbarack and Aleandro simultaneously stood up. Both decided to leave the room to answer Asher's call immediately.

"Anyway, you should immediately propose to Alana, El."

Curious to know how many times Vivian has repeated that sentence. While Elbarack himself looks incredible. Deliberately deaf ears. He even concentrated on working on the health journal he was writing at his desk.

"El... you heard what I said, right?"

Without even looking up, he nodded.

"Yes, listen," he replied.

Exasperated, Vivian, who had been sitting on the side of the bed, chose to stand up. Then she took a big step toward her husband, who was busy with work.

"You don't care, me!" The woman deliberately pulls the pen that Elbarack was holding and puts it on an irritated face because her husband has ignored her.

"Vivian..." Elbarack averted his eyes. The man spoke softly. "I have to clean up my work first."

Vivian shook her head. It is his nature that if he wants something, he must obey it immediately.

"Not until you really hear what I'm talking about."

Elbarack chuckled. Instead of wanting to get angry, the man who works as a neurosurgeon chose to pray repeatedly in his heart—asking God to continue to keep his patience.

"What do you want?"

In response to a question like that, Vivian immediately pouted. Sometimes the husband still asks what he wants.

"How come you ask what you want? I want you to rush to Alana, El. After that, decide when you will get married soon. I've also consulted EO Wedding to hold your wedding."

"Vivian ... I haven't even met Alana in a long time. How can I immediately propose, let alone marry her in a hurry. This is too fast," Elbarack protested.

"Easy," said the woman quickly. "If your problem is because you haven't seen each other for a long time, I can arrange a meeting for the two of you as soon as possible. So that you can talk to each other first before deciding on the date of the proposal and definitely the date of the wedding."

Elbarack took a deep breath. There was already no chance for him to refuse. Vivian was firmly determined that she should marry the woman of her choice. Where else can the decision be negotiated?

"Do I really have to get married?"

Vivian's eyebrows rose high.

"Is there any other way for you to have children besides remarrying? If there is, just say it. I'm ready to do it."

"We can adopt a child," said Elbarack quietly. At least with adoption, he wouldn't have to marry another woman. He can still have and take care of children like any other average couple.

"No!" Vivian shook her head. The woman flatly refused. "I want the child to come from your blood, El. The blood descended from Knight is not someone's child, it's not clear where it's from. Besides, I'm willing if you have a second wife as long as that woman can give you children. So, what's so hard about granting my request? Aren't you here? benefit too? Everywhere, the man is happy if his wife is allowed to remarry."

"Oh My God.."

Again, Elbarack was shocked. I need help with how to reply. How could his wife equate him with men out there? After all, wanting to insist on anything seems useless. Vivian's decision is unanimous and cannot be contested.

"Anyway, you have to meet Alana in the near future. I will arrange a meeting for you two. And one thing for sure, I will not accept your rejection. So, please El, don't make excuses anymore."

After giving confirmation, Vivian chose to leave. She was going Elbarack, still unmoving in his sitting position.
