CHAPTER 4 Mate

Tristan's POV

As an Alpha of Midnight Mirage Park with great power and strength, responsibilities rest upon my shoulders.

Ever since I shifted on my thirteenth birthday, until now that I am twenty-seven years of age, I haven't gotten a fated mate, and it always saddens my heart because, without a fated mate, you are not complete as an Alpha.

I promise myself that anytime I meet my mate, I will reject her if she is an Omega because I need someone as powerful as I am beside me, but I haven't seen my mate for the past few years. I hope she is somewhere safe.

In Midnight Mirage Park, we are guided by rules. One of the rules is that if you don’t have a mate before thirty years of age, you will have to marry the park’s delta. As the rule stands, it hasn’t changed, and I can’t defy it.

If I can't find a mate within the next two years, I will marry Delta Elowen Dean. Although she is powerful, she can’t stand the position of a fated mate.

“Someone broke the park’s barrier," I thought, mind-linking my warriors.

Even though we took an abode in the woods, every park has its territory. Once you cross the barrier of a rival park, you are dead if you are a weakling wolf.

The Midnight Mirage Park has a very powerful barrier; only a very powerful warrior could break the barrier and come into our territory.

Who would be so powerful as to break the barrier?

“It’s a woman; she has a weird aura, but we will deal with her,” my beta mind linked back.

“Okay,” I replied.

Everything happened so fast. An unfamiliar scent filled up my nostrils; even my wolf could feel that too.

The scent kept pushing me to come; it was so intoxicating and different. I haven’t felt like that in years.

“Let’s go to where the scent is coming from,” my wolf mind-linked.

I stood up and followed the direction the scent was leading me. As I move closer, it becomes stronger and more attractive, and it is irresistible.

“I think our mate bond is effective,” my wolf mind-linked as he growled happily within.

A look of disbelief crossed my face.

Mate? How is it possible?

“Did you say you have a woman there?” I mind-linked my warriors.

"Yes,” they replied.

“Spare her; let me come over."

If she were my mate, that meant she would be so powerful. I felt my wolf growl with excitement. Finally, the moon goddess has decided to answer my prayer.

She sent me a mate—not only a mate; she is powerful enough to break my park’s barrier.

“Mate!” My wolf howled as we saw the figure lying lifeless on the ground. I felt good goosebumps rise over my body.

If she is powerful, why is she lying lifeless on the ground?

“Do you think she stands a chance with these four warriors?” my wolf whimpered.

Yes, she doesn’t stand a chance with the park’s Beta, Gamma, and two other highly skilled warriors.

I moved closer to where she was lying; I crouched downward to the ground level, and I could feel the bonds becoming stronger and stronger.

She is my mate.

“She is an Omega,” my wolf mind-linked.

Yes, I noticed that too as I touched her neck area.

She possessed the aura of her banished wolf.

Is she a rogue?

Why would an Omega be my mate?

The moon goddess must be joking, because as powerful as I am, she should give me someone who can support me with her power.

I will reject her once she gains consciousness. I carried her lifeless body with both hands in a bridal style.

I could feel my warriors were puzzled as to what I was doing, but they didn’t dare question my actions.

I took her straight to the medical cabin, where she would be treated, because she looked weak.

“She is ill; treat her,” I said to our pack’s healer, whom I found inside the cabin, dropping her on the bed gently.

"Okay, Lord," healer Ragnar said, and I left.

“She is an Omega,” my beta murmured as a matter of fact as soon as I stepped out of the cabin.

Yes, it is easy to identify that she is an Omega because of the aura around her.

“She is my mate,” I told my warriors, who were very shocked to believe I was mated to a wimpy Omega.

“Keep this a secret from the other pack members until I find something to do with her,” I said as I walked to the park house.

I couldn’t resist the urge to be with my fated mate after a very long time, but she is an Omega. The pack member will question her vulnerability.

Should I just reject her?

“No, she is our mate; you can’t do that,” my wolf whispered in my head.

“What should we do with her?” I quizzed my wolf with the mind link.

“She is our Luna Natura,” my wolf growled happily. I could feel he was happy to meet our mate after several years of waiting.

As much as I don’t want an Omega as my fated mate, I don’t want to reject her. I felt something different about her.

***

As I stepped into the cabin, she was already awake. Our gazes pierced into each other, and I could feel she had a lot of questions.

My mate is a petite lady with a round face, slender legs, long, curly dark hair, and blue hazel eyes.

Even though she looks unkempt, her beauty is irresistible. She is all a man, in his right sense, would pray to have.

“Didn’t you say you wanted to reject her?” My wolf mind-linked.

“Shh, I am not tripping; I can still reject her."

“W-why am I here?” Her questions jolted me back to reality.

“I saved you in the woods, where you were lying unconscious.” I lied, not wanting to tell her that my warriors beat her up.

“How many days have I gone?” she asked with curiosity.

“Just three days.” I saw her raise her brow as I mentioned that. "But you are fine now,” I added reassuringly.

“Wait, are you my mat...?" She winced and held her head. I could feel she was in pain.

I quickly darted towards her and sat beside her on the small bed, wrapped my hand around her waist, and held her hand with my other hand. The physical contact made our connection stronger. I could feel the spark.

She was irked by my reaction, but she is a mate, and she would get used to it.

“Yes, I am your mate,” I responded, knowing what she wanted to ask.

She turned her head in my direction, squinting her eyes confusingly.

“Are you not going to reject me?”

An obvious smirk found its way to the corner of my lips, which made me chuckle.

“Why should I reject the mate I have been longing to meet?” I quizzed, raising my brow slightly.

She smiles slightly, revealing the dimple she has on her cheeks. Her smile gave me a tingling sensation inside my stomach.

“I love her smile,” my wolf mind-linked.

“Did you know I am an Omega?”

“Yes, but…" My reply was cut short when I saw my beta, Andrian, walk in.

He mind-linked to me and said that my attention was needed.

“I will be back shortly,” I said, patting my mate slightly on the back.

I never even asked for her name. What a jerk I am.

“Delta Elowen will be coming in a few days,” Andrian said as we stepped out of the cabin.

Hearing that the Delta was coming gave me a lot of worry. She wouldn’t hesitate to challenge my mate for Luna's position.

“What do you intend to do, my lord?” Andrian asked, breaking my chain of thoughts.

I took a deep breath. “My mate will have the challenge,” I said with a worried voice.

“Would you allow that?” Andrian quizzed.

It is a rule in our pack that anytime Luna is found, if other pack members are not happy with the fated mate being Luna, they will all have a duel with the fated mate, and whoever wins will be the park’s Luna.

“It’s culture; I can't defy it,” I responded calmly.

Delta Elowen would not hesitate to challenge my mate once she knew she was an Omega. She is the most powerful of my warriors.

Does my mate stand a chance with her?

She is just a weak Omega; I can't stand her facing Delta Elowen on the battlefield.

She is going to get killed.

How am I going to end this?

I can’t stand my mate getting hurt. I was in deep thought when I felt tears drop on my cheeks and chin.

I have never felt like this before; my mate is different.

The bond is strong.
