When he heard that, he panicked, realizing that he hadn’t responded to her earlier statement as he got busy with Adolf. As a result, Veda misunderstood.
He wanted to cuss Adolf once again but Veda came first.
“How can that be? She was just a bed warmer, and I didn’t take her seriously at all!” he hurriedly said, explaining himself, overridden by guilt for allowing Elowyn by his side when Veda was suffering in the years she wasn’t by his side.
Veda didn’t seem to believe that, she turned around to face him, tears streaking down her face. Hilary felt guiltier upon seeing that. He gritted his teeth and firmly asked, “what do you want me to do so that you can believe that I don’t like her and the only person that I love has always been you? Tell me, and I will do anything!” his tone filled with sincerity, Veda felt touched.
Thinking about Elowyn, Veda’s heart was on fire. There was no way she was going to let her live especially considering that Elowyn was ……
Just thinking about it, Veda felt her blood boiling and even the wolf in her was complaining.
[Don’t be merciful! Only our pups can live in this world. Don’t forget what we went through!]
When Veda recalled the events of the years, she wasn’t in the pack, her eyes were filled with determination. She looked at Hilary and said determinately, “She must die at your own hands. Only then can I feel at ease!” without any ounce of joking in her tone.
And his eyes shone.
****
“Where are you taking me? Stop it!” she yelled angrily as she staggered on the rugged path while glaring at the warriors who suddenly reappeared at some point in the cell and roughly took her out.
The warriors pretended to be mute and didn’t reply her. That made Elowyn so crazy, she was hurling insults at them and Hilary at the same time.
“You must be having some ill intentions. Even if I didn’t end up married to your Alpha but aren’t I also part of the pack?”
“You dare humiliate me because I am human! Damn you heartless stinking wolves! I will never forgive you. You are the fucking same with that lying bastard. I curse you all!”
Unfortunately, no matter how many cusses and curses she let out, these warriors continued to push her out of the pack grounds.
She was familiar with the area, after all she wasn’t stuck in the pack in the three years that she was living there. As someone who once lived in the forest with her mother, this part of the forest was her favorite.
It wasn’t part of the pack and more of like a man’s no land. On this piece of land, unless one comes across rogues, no other werewolves would dare fight for territorial reasons.
These mute warriors sent her into that forest and left her when she was somewhere in the middle.
Seeing their retreating backs, Elowyn cursed furiously at them before slumping to the ground.
“What am I going to do at such a time? Even if you wanted to banish me, couldn’t you have done it during that time? Damn you, Hilary!” Elowyn cried as she looked at the gloomy forest.
Since it was dark, it looked quite eerie. The shadows of the trees and the dim light from the moon, it just made the night looked scarier, and she didn’t like it at all.
Her hand reached out for her flat belly and started to sniff as she whispered, “Children…. Mom doesn’t know what to do? Your father … your father doesn’t want us anymore. What should we do?” she felt despair as she crouched there.
She didn’t have any money, no identification documents and no clothes. Being alone in this forest, how long would she last?
She didn’t know.
If she was alone, she wouldn’t mind but now that she was carrying, these children needed nutrients. She needed to take care of herself but her situation seemed not to allow that anymore.
As she crouched there, Elowyn finally learnt what despair was truly like. However, that only lasted for a while before she rose to her feet.
“No matter what, I must not give up! I need to find a place to sleep for the night. The rest I can think about it when the sun rises!”
For the sake of her children, she wasn’t going to let despair consume her. She was going to be strong.
Tear. Tear.
With that thought in mind, she grabbed the hem of the wedding gown and tore it. The gown was a bit too long and when she walked, it was sweeping the ground.
It was the one which made her stagger earlier. If she wanted to have it good at least during that night, then being comfortable when walking was the first step.
With the gown a bit shorter, Elowyn started walking in the dark forest and her destination was a dating spot she and Hilary used to go.
She would sit there, food spread on the picnic mat, music playing on the phone and Adolf roaming free as he ran around.
It was nice being with Adolf and Hilary at the same time.
Adolf would let her pet him and comb his fur. Life was good.
Perhaps Hilary wanted to save her. That’s why he had the warriors take her into the forest. Perhaps he was waiting for her at that spot. With that thought in mind, a glimmer of hope flashed in her eyes and her speed increased.
‘Wait for me! I knew it!’ she happily thought as she maneuvered through the trees.
After walking for a while, she reached that familiar spot and smiled.
Although it was dark, she could see perfectly. She rushed towards that huge tree with a nice shade that they always rested under all the time.
The shade was large, and she could rest for the night if Hilary didn’t come. She was very patient.
If it wasn’t for Veda threatening him or the force of mates doing so, he wouldn’t have hurt her the way he did.
He might not love her but not to the extent of hurting her that deeply. That wasn’t the Hilary she knew. She believed in that.
Thinking positively, she walked towards the tree and when she got there, she suddenly exclaimed as her eyes widened. “Did he leave that for me?”
Her pace increased as she spotted a familiar bag which was hers just rooted there.
Tears pooled in her eyes as she rushed towards the bag. When she reached it, she caressed it as tears streamed down her cheeks.
Eager to see what was inside, she laid it on the ground before opening it. When she did, she sobbed as she spotted a sticky note with his handwriting on it.
[Dear, I am sorry about how I treated you. If you are seeing this, then you should be now at our favorite spot. Can you dress up for me and come to the cliff? Although I won’t be able to wed you in the way that you wanted, we can hold our secret wedding with the moon as our witness. I will be waiting for you there.]
