“Wake up!”

Lopez groaned as Samantha yanked off her blanket. “What is wrong with you?” Lopez muttered, half asleep.

“What is wrong with you?” Samantha shot back. “Didn’t you say last night you were going job hunting?”

Lopez groaned again and covered her face with a pillow.

“I don’t have the strength.”

Samantha snatched the pillow.

“You don’t have a choice.”

She shoved a paper into Lopez;s hand.

“What’s this?”

“A list of big companies in Germany.”

Lopez blinked. Samantha folded her arms.

“You said you wanted a big company. Start acting like it.”

Lopez scanned the list lazily. Her eyes landed on one name ‘WEST INSURANCE’

She sat up. “No.”

Samantha grinned. “Yes.”

“What is your plan?”

“ I will start with the West Company .” Lopez said reluctantly.

“Nice pick.”

Lopez suddenly realized what she has said. “Wait…the same West Insurance?”

“Mhmmn” Samantha nodded.

“The biggest insurance company in the whole of Germany. Are you kidding? You think I will get a job at West Insurance?

“I thought you said you wanted a job in a big company. And why can’t you get a job there? You have a first class in marketing, do you know what that means?” Samantha encouraged.

“But…” she was interrupted by Samantha again “No buts. You are applying for a job at West Insurance. So please, get up and get going.”

Lopez reluctantly tossed the blanket aside and stood up. It took her some more minutes to process.

Adrian’s expression darkened as soon as the office door shut.

“What did you say?” His voice was dangerously calm.

That alone made both Clementina and Gabriel tense.

“Mr. West just signed a document. I don’t have the details about the content but I am sure it is about a requirement you must fulfill before he can hand over the company to you.” Clementina answered.

“How is that possible?” Adrian scoffed.

“I saw a glimpse of the document yesterday while I was in Mr.Lucas’s office. I thought I would be able to get full access to the content if I sneak in on him but when I checked his computer this morning, the document was locked.” Clementina explained.

“Then how did you know my dad signed it? Adrian questioned.

“Because he just got back from an appointment with him. I confirmed that from his driver” Tina retorted, trying to sound convincing.

“It’s true, sir. I got information that Mr. Lucas visited your dad this morning.” his assistant answered.

Adrian , clenched his fists, his mind raced with anger, “that old devil” he exclaimed. "I need to know what's in that document.”

Clementina nodded repeatedly. “I will get that for you.” She has always done everything in favor of Adrian ever since she joined the company. Of course, she has always had a crush on Adrian who has never looked her way. Not that he is interested in any woman anyway but Tina has always had hope he would one day like her in return.

“Oh, not you. You have done enough.” Adrian responded. Although he sounded insulting, he was indifferent. “I have to do this myself.”

“Where is he again?” he asked as he stormed out of his office while his assistant hurried after him.

Clementina also walked out of Adrian ’s office. Once she got to the welcoming room, she turned to the receptionist, “You said someone was waiting for me”

“Yes, ma’am. She just left for the restroom. I will send her in when she gets back.” the receptionist responded with her head bowed.

Clementina didn’t respond. The receptionist didn't look up until Clementina disappeared into her office. The moment the door shut, she rolled her eyes.

“Wicked woman.”

Lopez walked in from the restroom overhearing what the receptionist muttered.

Lopez frowned. “What?”

The receptionist lowered her voice.

“Nothing. Just …goodluck.”

The employees at West Insurance were not friends with Clementina. She is rude, domineering, and flirtatious. But what is not a rumor is that she can’t get sacked like other employees. Tina as often called is the daughter of Mr. West’s childhood friend and has been a friend to Adrian since they were kids.

However, in Adrian ’s narrative, they were never friends.

“You can go in now, she is on her seat.” the receptionist said to Lopez.

“Oh! Thank you.” Lopez responded, packing her bag and credentials. She walked into the office as directed.

As Lopez entered the office, her eyes met Clementina's gaze. A fake smile touched her lips.

“Yes?”

Then she properly looked at Lopez and the smile vanished. Clementina’s eyes slowly traveled from Lopez’s face to her clothes. Her expression hardened. Lopez is beautiful, natural, and effortlessly elegant. She instantly disliked her.

“I’m here to submit my application ma’am… I need a job.”

Tina smiled sheepishly. “A job? Here? Do you think we employ just anybody here? Does this look like a convenience store to you?”

“I’m sorry…’’ Lopez tried to speak but Tina shuts her up. “Please leave.”

“But…” She tried to speak again. This time, Tina’s voice is fierce. “Leave now, while I am being nice” she yelled.

Lopez didn't wait a second further. She left the office immediately, and a bewildered expression lingered on her face. The cold reception and outright dismissal were unexpected, and when she remembered how she stared at her when she got in, it left her with a sense of confusion.

“Guess you’ve had your share of Tina’s.” the receptionist said, her eyes glued to the computer she was operating.

Adrian, on his way to the administrator’s office, bumped into his uncle, unexpectedly. He stopped in his tracks when he saw Lucas. His jaw tightened instantly.

Lucas smiled like a snake.

“Well, well, well. My favourite nephew.”

Adrian’s eyes turned cold.

“Cut the act, uncle.

Lucas chuckled.

“My, someone’s in a bad mood.”

Adrian was suddenly irritated.

“I know about the document you made dad sign this morning.”

“As you can see, I was walking out when you stopped me” Lucas answered sarcastically.

He leaned closer to Adrian. “You should start thinking about marriage, Adrian.”

Adrian’s expression froze. “Why on earth would I be thinking about that?”

Lucas smiled. “Because very soon, being single will cost you everything.”
