Ray and I got ourselves ready to attend the auction. Leo was already at the venue waiting for us. And I didn’t forget to carry the divorce papers with me too.

Just as we got there Charles and Fiona were coming down from their car together with his mother. I knew once she saw me, she was going to cause a scene and I was very much ready for it.

“Who invited this low class to such an event? And she wore expensive clothes too.”

Ray made to answer her but I patted his arm for him to relax and that I’ll handle everything.

“Hello Mrs Windor, it’s nice to see you again, I hope you are getting just fine with your new daughter-in-law?” I said as I watched Fiona grip’s on Charles hand tighten.

“Who brought you here?. You don’t deserve to be in this auction.”

“Well, I’m not here to argue with you since it’s actually your nature to talk down on people when you are not even anything. Do you remember how you were before you saw the dawn of riches?” I asked and her face turn red in embarrassment.

“How dare you speak like that to my mother?” Charles bellowed, his eyes blaring at me like the headlights of a car.

“How dare she speak to me like that too?” I asked and Leo began to laugh which made me chuckle slightly.

He seems to be enjoying the show.

“Oh well, lest I forget and it's a good thing we met here.

These are the divorce papers. I’ve signed my names on it and I hope you do same Mr Charles.” I said and handed over the documents to him but Fiona got it instead which I didn’t care about.

I turned around and held Leo’s hand as we both walked down the red carpet admist camera flashes . We were offered the VIP together with Charles. He seemed surprised to see me head towards the VIP section and his eyes lingered on my black low cut dress and platform heels.

I barely dress this much when we were together, even on my wedding anniversary or our birthdays. I dressed like a “wife” just like he wanted.

Well, I can’t be a slave to him anymore. He lost me and I have promised myself I wasn’t going back to him.

The event started, it was entertaining and the display of jewelries was nice. I bought some pieces for myself,Leo and my brother not minding the amount. I’m the heiress of the Clark family, money will never be an issue.

After the auction, it was announced that the Queen of the jewelry industry was going to deliver a speech. I watched as everyone one including Charles and Fiona clap so hard that it made me blush.

Clap harder, so that your shame will be higher.

Charles has always wanted to see the queen of the Jewelry industry and partner with her but unfortunately, he wasn’t aware that it was his me, his ex-wife.

As people were clapping I stood up and made my way to the stage. As I got to the stage I realized that Charles and Fiona had stopped clapping and Charles looked all confused.

Well, I didn’t care. The game has begun.

“Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen.” I said and the crowd erupted into loud shouting and clapping.

“It’s been three years since you all last saw me and I apologized for been away for so long, but I’m back with lot of my work for your lovely eyes to see and be amazed.” I said.

After the speech, I was awarded and they rose to cheer me on as I made my way back to my seat.

How I missed this life. What was I thinking about when I gave it up to be with my ungrateful ex husband?

Well, I’m not making such mistake again.

“You did so well up there Val.” Leo said and my brother Ray nodded.

My phone buzzed and I saw a notification coming from my ex husband.

“What kind of game are you playing Valerie?” He asked.

I turned to his direction and saw him looking at me with so much anger. I ignored him as I no longer have to explain myself to someone like him.

Lastly, it was announced that they would be a party at my place to welcome me back to the social circle. I was surprised only to turn and give my brother a questioning look. And then he whispered.

“It was all dad’s idea.” He said lifting his hands in defense.

I smiled back at him and turned to the other side where my eyes met Charles who seemed to have been staring.

The event came to an end and I could be more excited to get home, away from my ex husband and his first love. With the way he looked, I was sure he already had his regrets but I wasn’t done with him yet.

He and his entire family were going to pay for the way the hurt and treated me.

I made to step out of the build when I got stopped by Charles mother.

“You low life, how much did you pay to those people to make them recognize you as the Queen of the jewelry industry? Huh?” She asked looking all angry. Just what I wanted.

“Do you think everyone is like you who bribed to get their way to the top??” I asked back.

I tried taking another step my got blocked again by Charles.

“Do we have a problem Mr Charles?”

“What kind of show did you pull up today? I can’t still believe that you are the Queen of the jewelry industry whom I’ve always wanted to meet. Why didn’t you tell me?” He asked.

“Tell you why?? At least now you know, isn’t it a good thing?”

“Ooh shut the fuck up Valerie, I know women like you. You literally slept with those men to make them recognize you.” Fiona chipped in with a snort.

“How do you know that? It’s seems it’s something you do often?” I said back with a smirk.

“How dare you?” She asked and was about to slap me when Leo got a hold of her hand to my surprise and pushed her so hard.

She was lucky Charles was there to save her or else it would have been bad for her.

“How dare you Leo?”

“How dare me? Were you blind to see that she wanted to slap Valerie just now?”

“She deserve it!” Charles mother said.

“Enough of all this nonsense. Valerie you and I have to talk.”

“Mr Charles, there’s nothing to take about. We are divorced and you have a fiancée .”

“See you all some another time.” I said and held Leo's hands as we both walked out of Charles's presence before he could say another time.
