I stared at myself in the mirror, and a light smile crept on my lips as the rays of the morning sun shone directly on my face.
I was preparing to go to work at the cafe as usual as I hummed a song and walked out of my room heading out of the mansion.
I walked to the cafe which wasn’t far from where the mansion was and met Nora, cleaning with a bright smile on her face.
I smiled to myself as I thought, “Such a nice boss,”
“Hey welcome Aurora,” She called out the moment she saw me with a bright smile that I returned with a nod.
I stood in one corner with my gaze on Nora as I admired her. Nora was such a beautiful lady, that at times, I was often mesmerized by her appearance.
I kept on admiring her with a smile on my face as I remembered things Nora had done for me.
She has constantly supported me, even when I had no one.
She was like the big sister I never had, as she always shielded me from unnecessary troubles.
She is the only one who cares about me and I really appreciate her for that, “What are you staring at Aurora?” She asked with a light chuckle that managed to jolt me back to reality.
I sighed and shook my head, before going into the cafe so I could start making the orders.
An order for a coffee came in, and I started making it quickly so it could be delivered.
The person dropped a message saying it was needed urgently.
I finished making it in no time, and when I checked the address, it wasn’t far from our cafe so I decided to deliver it.
I packed the order and waved Nora goodbye.
This time, she was busy with some customers who were already trooping in and out of the cafe.
I entered the motorcycle which was meant for delivering orders and rode to the address, but to my utmost surprise—it was Asher’s office.
I was silently hoping that it was a worker who made the order, but to my dismay, his receptionist asked me to bring it to his office.
I became worried about how to meet him because since he made the hurtful statement yesterday, I tried my ultimate best to avoid him.
I decided to be brave and deliver his orders without paying attention to whatever he said.
Just as I was about to knock on his door, I heard Sophia’s voice and that of Asher's and it piqued my interest. I suddenly became interested in their discussion and decided to eavesdrop and listen to them.
“Aurora?” I heard my name, making me raise my eyebrows in confusion.
“You shouldn’t be worried about that my love, I don’t care about her, not one bit,” I heard Asher say, and I sighed dejectedly.
Why do I have to go through this every day?
“Are you sure?” I heard Sophia ask in her saccharine voice.
“I promise you that you are the only one I love, not my worthless Luna my father picked up for me,” Asher said, and I swallowed a hard lump in my throat, I knew I had heard enough.
I was tired, pained, heartbroken, and devastated.
“I want you to get me a new sports car,” Sophia said to him, and with that—I knocked on the door.
A few minutes later the door swung open and Sophia giggled when she saw me. She looked at me from head to toe until she saw the order I held in my hand and arrogantly ripped it from my hand.
“Look who’s here,” She said pitifully, but I knew she was mocking me and poking me to see my reaction.
“I feel really bad for you, is Asher maltreating you, dear?” She smirked, but I wore a blank look not giving her any reason for her to know that I was hurting deep down.
“Tsk, tsk…you must be hurt right?” She asked again, still trying to get a reaction from me.
Sophia suddenly pouted and turned to stare at Asher, “Baby, please don’t pamper me too much and mistreat your wife,” She said, but deep down I knew she was taunting me.
She was trying to show me the power she had over him, but I tried so hard to mask my emotions.
I didn’t want to break down in their presence, but it was really difficult to pretend it didn't hurt.
She must have ordered this coffee on purpose, everyone knows I work in a cafe, and meeting her here in his office isn't just a coincidence.
Sophia went to her purse and brought out some cash which she handed to me, but I refused to collect it and turned around to walk away, I was ready to leave without the money but then I heard Asher’s cold voice.
“Take that cash from her right now,” He ordered harshly, and when I turned to look at him, I wasn't surprised to see him glaring at me with disgust in his eyes.
It was very obvious that he was displeased with me for coming to his office, but what I couldn’t pinpoint was how it was my fault.
“Aurora, don’t ever delude yourself into thinking that you could ever be part of the pack, I’m only going to follow my father’s wishes to make you live a comfortable life as my wife, but you should also know your place,” He warned sternly.
My heart ached as tears threatened to fall from my eyes as I watched my husband side with his lover.
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through my abdomen as I grabbed my stomach in pain.
“Mm,” A silent sound escaped my mouth as I winced in pain, but Sophia and Asher didn’t move an inch from where they were standing.
I staggered out of the office with my hands wrapped around my middle, what is happening to me?
Suddenly, it felt like the moon goddess was against me today as it started raining heavily but I didn’t wait.
I needed help and assistance. The only person who could help was Nora, so I entered the rain and walked towards my motorcycle. The rain soaked me as I mounted my motorcycle with difficulty as the pain persisted and sped off.
On a slick patch of road, my motorcycle skidded. I tried to regain control, but it was too late.
I was thrown off, as I hit the ground hard.
Pain surged through me. My vision blurred, then faded. The rain's sound grew distant, and darkness closed in.
Is this the end? I thought as everything went black and I just embraced the darkness.
