After severe pain and a great scare, Luis José had finally sutured my wound.

—Okay, we're done. How do you feel?

—I think the scare has passed a little. Thank you very much, I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't been there. I owe you something? It's just that I would like to repay you for what you did.

—Please, how do you think? You even offend me with the question.

—It's just that you've gone to so much trouble that I feel very sorry for you.

—Well, thinking about it, I think you can pay me one way.

When he told me that, fear suddenly invaded my entire body, I had imagined the worst, my expression of fear must have been so noticeable on my face, that he immediately told me:

—It's not what you're imagining. —I felt so embarrassed that I tried to hide it by saying:

—I'm not imagining anything, I just kept thinking about what that could be with which I can repay you for the great favor you've done me.

—Well, it's nothing more than accepting a drink at the hotel bar. How about?

Suddenly I breathed a sigh of relief, I liked realizing that I had made a mistake thinking wrong. I also felt very attracted to him, it had been a while since I felt something like that for someone.

-Of course I accept! The truth is that I could really use a drink after this scare.

—Well, don't say any more, then come on, I'll help you walk.

He took me by the waist with his big, strong hands, while I hung my arm around his neck, feeling that man so close made me feel too good. The feeling of feeling protected was delicious, to the point that I would have liked the way to the bar to be much longer so that I could continue close to him.

While I was having a few drinks with my unknown savior, my parents were making all the preparations for my surprise birthday party, where my sister was also going to be with her husband, whom we were all finally going to meet. Not to mention that my fiancé Nelson, my father's partner, was also going to be there.

—Everything is going wonderful, I'm sure your sister will be very surprised when she sees the party we are preparing for her, but what will give her the most pleasure is knowing that you have returned home.

—Mother, I have not returned home, I only came with my husband to Mexico because he is holding a medical conference in Cancun. But as soon as it's over we return to New York.

My mother had hoped that April would stay at home again, both my father and her did not agree with their marriage, even more so when they found out that they lived in a small rented apartment; when in reality my sister had been raised in luxury and comfort.

—I thought that after having gotten married secretly and without our consent, you were at least going to stay with your real family for a while.

—Mom, please don't start with the same thing, Luis José is now my family too, and when you meet him I'm sure you'll change your mind.

—We educated you in the best schools and gave you all the luxuries and you come to marry a fifth-rate doctor who can't even give you your own roof.

My mother always had that kind of problems with people who did not have the same social and economic level as our family, and they never forgave my sister for what she did, that is why they forced me to get engaged to Nelson, he was one of my father's partners in the firm and was also one of the most influential lawyers in the country, of course after my father.

Unlike April, I had to submit to what my parents imposed on me, studying law and getting engaged to a man who deep down I didn't want.

But returning to my meeting with my unknown savior, we spent hours drinking drinks in the hotel bar.

—Well, I know your name is Ana Paula, but what do you do?

—There's really not much to say, I'm a lawyer and I work at my father's law firm.

At that moment Luis José received a call on his cell phone that for a few seconds he hesitated to answer, however he told me, making a sign with his fingers:

—Give me a minute, I have to answer this call.

I didn't have any problems, I stayed sitting at the bar having my drink, plus with the wound on my foot, I couldn't go anywhere without help, he went as far away as he could to answer his call without me being able to hear.

I just stood watching him from a distance and wondering who the person was who had called him.

—Hello honey, what a surprise that you called me! How are you doing with your parents?

—Hello love, well to be honest with you, I already want to leave, my mother wants me to stay with them at home, they still don't understand that I am a married woman. And what are you doing darling? How did the congress go?

Luis José looked a little nervous, he looked at me and smiled, but with that smile full of nervousness, as if something was worrying him, however I waited very patiently for him to finish speaking, anyway, I had just met him and I didn't know anything about his life, such as if he was married, if he had a girlfriend or, on the contrary, he was single.

-The congress?

—Yes love, the congress, but what's wrong with you? You're nervous, did I call at the wrong time?

—No love, please. How do you say that? Sorry, I was meeting with some colleagues at the hotel bar and I had to go out to serve you. And answering your question, the congress has been wonderful.

-That's good honey! I am very happy for you, I knew that this conference was going to be very useful to you. I can't wait for you to finish quickly so you can come meet my family.

—Yes, of course, honey, as soon as the conference is over, I'll see you at your parents' house, I just hope they accept me.

—Of course they are going to accept you! Also, I want you to meet my sister, we are preparing a surprise party for her birthday. '

—Very well, love, I think it's great, but… You know what? I have to hang up, I have to return to the group, I'm sorry I left them at the bar to take the call.

—Don't worry, honey, I just wanted to say goodnight and tell you that I love you.

—I love you too, see you and say hello to your parents for me.

He hung up the call and approached the bar, he came with a smile as if nothing was happening, he sat down and told me:

—I'm sorry I left you alone, but it was important to answer that call.

—But I notice you're a little nervous, is everything okay?

—Yes, everything is fine, I was just a friend who wanted to know how the congress is going.

—Hum! A friend? Are you sure she was actually a friend? —I told him jokingly.

-Hahaha of course! Why would I lie to you?

—No, I was just asking.

—Let's better toast to this chance encounter and because you overcame your fear of needles.

-Health! —We raised our glasses and toasted, that man really impressed me.

My friends had called me on my cell phone several times as they were worried because I had not returned to the room, but I explained to them the wonderful encounter I had had with my unknown savior, and they were happy for me.

That night I drank more than necessary, it had been a while since I felt so comfortable with someone, I had several missed calls from my fiancé, but I didn't want anything or anyone to damage this wonderful encounter.

Luis José and I had several drinks, the hours had passed without us realizing it.

—It's already late, it's one in the morning, my friends must be asleep, I better go to my room.

—Yes, you're right, time passed without us realizing it, but I really enjoyed your company. Well, I'm going to accompany you to your room, remember that you can't put your foot down too much.

I held on to him and he slowly helped me get to my suite, but just then I realized I had lost the key.

—I don't have the key to the room, I must have lost it on the beach when I stepped on the glass and my friends must be sleeping.

—Calm down, try knocking on the door.

For a few minutes I knocked on the door several times, but no one opened it. The other alternative was to ask for a key at reception, however before reaching that solution, he told me:

—Let's do something, my room is the one at the end of the hallway, why don't you come in and rest while we find a solution to the problem.

I was a little drunk, I couldn't stand for long because the injury was bothering me, and to be very honest, that man had me in ecstasy, I didn't want to leave him, I felt so good in his company, and also alone There was one day left to return home and face my cruel reality, continue with the marriage commitment that I did not agree with and practice a profession that I had only studied to please my parents.

Also, I thought that maybe after that weekend, I wouldn't have another chance to see Luis José again. So I chose to live in the moment and be happy even just for once.
