Bella pov.
I couldn’t believe that after all these years, the first acquaintance I would see would be this damn woman! Was she the one the hospital wanted me to treat?
"Dean Dufner, is she the good doctor your recommend to me?" Kelsey put on an unbeatable look and looked at me with contempt.
I looked at the woman in front of me coldly, and I decided to remain silent until she stopped talking.
"Miss Kelsey, believe me, Dr. Sybil is the best doctor in our neurology department." Dean Dufner said.
"The best doctor? I don't see anything special about her except that she's got a good look. You didn’t recommend her to me because you slept with her at night, did you? She was probably good in bed, but not in medicine. Am I right?"
Hearing what she said, Dean Dufner forced an awkward smiled.
Kelsey’s unpleasant and vicious words, as well as her voice deeply stimulated my nerves. I was furious. I tried with all my might to suppress my emotions, biting my thin lips and clenching my fists tightly. All the bad memories instantly came flooding back to me.
Stinson and I actually knew each other since childhood. When we were five years old, the two families agreed on our arranged marriage. I did not take it seriously at first. I also thought it was just a joke by the adults, even though I already fell in love with this man at that time.
Later, my family went bankrupt. I had no choice but to live with Aunt Livia's family. Master Stettner not only did not dislike me, but also took the initiative to arrange my marriage and let me live in their family, so that I could live a stable life.
But I never thought that this would be what I got in the end.
"I'm just kidding! It's not like I got it right. Hahaha."
"Miss Kelsey, you are so funny! Hahahaha."
Kelsey let out a disgusting and unpleasant laugh, and Dean Dufner was also laughing with embarrassment.
The laughter was so disgusting that it made my head spin. My heart was burned with anger, and finally I couldn't hold myself back.
"Pop!" I slapped Kelsey hard.
Kelsey froze instantly. She probably didn't think someone would actually have the nerve to hit her so hard.
"Dean Stettner, I won't take over her cases. You’d better go find another doctor!" I said coldly to him.
Then I turned around and left. Kelsey was still in shock.
I slammed the door shut with a loud "bang!" Kelsey and the dean came back to their senses.
Soon I heard Kelsey's frantic screams behind me and Dean's desperate explanation.
"That bitch just hit me!? She's dead for sure, and so is your hospital ......"
"No, Miss Kelsey, take it easy. I'll make sure Dr. Sybil apologize to you. She will treat Mr. Stinson tomorrow."
"..."
I picked up my pace, and soon, I could hardly hear what they were saying. It must have been some threats and warnings anyway.
I didn't want to deal with this damn woman at all.
It turned out that Stinson was the one that needed medical attention.
And you want me to treat him?
Don't even think about it! I'd like you two to go to hell!
With that in mind, I quickened my pace.
I walked quickly to the garage and got into the driver's seat. I clenched my hands tightly on the steering wheel, and my knuckles turned pale. I buried my face into the steering wheel. At this moment, I suddenly had an emotional breakdown. I could not help but cry.
It had been five years!
I thought I had forgotten everything. I thought I would never see them again in my life. How naive was I? This damn woman’s appearance had reminded me of all the horrible old memories. The hatred and aggression made me unable to control my tears, which flowed like a waterfall from my eyes.
Kelsey, Stinson, I would rather save a cat or a dog if I had to, but I wouldn't save you.
I don't know how long I cried in the car. I leaned back in the seat, and took a deep breath. My tight face finally eased up. I let my breath out slowly, dried my tears, and stepped on the gas to drive home.
By the time I got home, I found the two kids were asleep.
My son Allen was a good boy. He not only took care of his sister for dinner, but also took a bath and fell asleep in his room with his sister in his arms.
"Mommy, you're home?"
Allen noticed me approaching and shouted with his sleepy eyes open.
"Yeah, mommy is back. My baby, I love you. Now go back to sleep."
The little boy turned over and went back to sleep.
Seeing this scene, the corners of my mouth unconsciously turned up slightly again. I was aware that I must be wearing a happy smile now. I gently lowered my head and kissed them both on their foreheads and tucked them in.
After watching the two babies for a few moments, I went back to the living room and picked up the phone.
"Mary, are you asleep?"
"Not yet. What's up, Sybil?"
"I'm going to take a day off tomorrow. Please do me a favor and go up to the hospital tomorrow morning in my office ..."
After handing things over, I immediately booked three tickets online that would get me out of this country.
...
I knew it was short notice, but I had to leave this place right away. Both of my children were very obedient. They quietly followed me hand in hand.
After stepping out of the door, I didn't look back and left the home I had lived in for years without hesitation. No one was in the streets. The biting cold wind blew against me. I didn't know where I could go, but the only thing I was sure of was that I had to escape from here because that damned man had found me.
I looked up at the moon in the sky and unknowingly walked into a dense forest. I trudged on, looking back at the two children every now and then, who seemed unusually quiet and just followed me silently.
Suddenly it began to rain. The rain soon became unstoppable, pouring down like waterfalls. The rain hit my face, blurring my vision. I hurriedly turned around to try to protect my babies.
I couldn't help but scream when I turned my head and saw a scene that made me panic. Stinson was standing behind my babies, holding a large black umbrella.
I was so confused by the suddenness of the situation that I instinctively rushed over to him to take my children back. But no matter how much I ran past them, they always kept a distance from me.
"Bella, you bitch! You can't protect them at all. They're mine." Stinson gave me a grim smile.
"No, Allen! Ellie!" I let out a desperate yell. There was nothing I could do to stop him from taking my children. Tears blurred my vision even further as Stinson slowly disappeared with my children.
My eyes snapped open as the sunlight spilled through the window onto my face. It was a nightmare. I hadn't slept well all day because of what happened last night, and had this same nightmare over and over again. I kind of regretted that I was just being impulsive.
Getting up from bed, I felt a terrible headache. I walked to the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked terrible, with a messy hair, pale face and bloodshot eyes.
"Ding ding ding."
The phone suddenly rang. My sleepiness immediately vanished as I hurriedly picked up the phone.
"Oh my God, Sybil, you finally answered the phone. What the hell did you do? A whole bunch of men in black came here at the hospital and searched your office thoroughly, and they're looking for you everywhere. What the hell is going on? You suddenly took a leave of absence yesterday. Did you offend someone? Why don't I call the police for you?"
Mary anxiously said on the phone.
Hearing what she said, a terrible thought flashed through my mind. I hurriedly said.
"Calm down, it's just that he wanted me to cure a patient, but I refused. They came to my office to find information. That’s all. You don't have to worry, just let them."
"Really?" Mary doubted.
"Mary, I'm in a bit of a hurry. I’ll talk to you later."
I no longer have time to explain to her. I hung up the phone and quickly ran into the children's room and woke up the two babies who were still sleeping.
"Sweethearts, time to get up! Mommy is taking you on a trip today. If you don't get up, we will be late!"
Ellie sat up, not yet reacting, and looked at me with a dazed expression.
Allen was very responsive. As soon as he heard the word "trip", he immediately woke up and shouted excitedly, "Trip? Great! Mommy, where are we going? Oh shoot! I have to go to class today."
"Mommy has asked for leave to take you on a trip. I have bought all the tickets to give you two a surprise. Now, come on!"
I said as I picked Ellie up from the bed. Allen also got up from the bed immediately.
In about thirty minutes, we finally all packed up. As soon as I got in the car, I immediately stepped on the gas and drove towards the airport.
