Chapter 2 Follow Me

Long after, my legs, alongside my feet started to burn from running at such a high speed, barefooted. The angry wolves that were once on my trail were nowhere to be seen. They either couldn't catch up with me or another reason came up which made them retreat.

I stopped running, nearly collapsing to the ground from pain and exhaustion. I faded in and out of consciousness, sobs of relief and agony falling past my lips. It was till then I carefully took cognisance of my surroundings. Earlier, I was running without a sense of direction, I didn't notice I've made entry into an entirely different pack. In a matter of seconds, I was surrounded by a fleet of beyond angry guards whose strict, frenzied expression was enough to make one wish to get swallowed by the ground. They assessed me for a while, displeased at my presence in their pack.

One of the guards grabbed my hands to my back a little too aggressively, placed a cuff around them. I wriggled.

'Why? Am I being arrested? I did nothing wrong?!' I cried but it all fell on deaf ears... They said nothing to me, only dragged me away to wherever.

As I was being dragged away, I took careful note of my surroundings. What pack is this? Why does every wolf we come across seem so controlled. For the slightest second, I swear I saw all wolves present in the surroundings froze to look at me in sync before going around their Normal business... It made things more scarier for me.

A door to a dark room was opened and I was thrown in and shackled up, again. Tears stung my eyes from the treatment. I escaped one hell only to land myself in another.. A few more guards stepped into the room. My heartbeat increased drastically, so did my fear.

'Please.. can I get some water?'.

No one responded to my request..

'Who are you and what do you think you were doing in our territory!?" One of them boomed.

I flinched and bit my lip to hold back my cries.

'I only stumbled upon this pack while running from my captors. It was unintentional. Please, let me...... go' I whispered.

A scowl settled on his face. 'You should know better than to mistakenly step foot into the Brujah Pack..'

I froze, extreme shock etching my features. 'B... Bru... jah pack?'

My eyes widened in horror. If I had any hope of getting out alive before, it was trampled to the ground... The pack had quite a reputation in the whole of Florida. Not just amongst wolves... But also among Vampires... Witches... It was a pack that contributed greatly to the horror telling tales that are existent till date. Horror stories parents tell their children so they would stay away from the bad guys.

'We are definitely doomed' Katrina didn't help matters when she whispered that.

"She smells like them," He spat, glaring daggers at me. Grabbing me roughly by the chin, he shouted, "We don't house wolves of Bloodmoon pack in our Territory,"

That caused another speculation to stir within me. Were they enemies to the Bloodmoon Pack?

'I... I'm...'. I tried to speak but was cut short by a violent shove on the cold ground. My back hit the ground painfully... I closed my eyes, holding back my tears as I accepted the back lashes they offered. I might as well be beaten up to death.

Excruciating pain was all I felt the next moment I woke up. Fragments of memories before I passed out made their way into my head and I winced. There were still bruise marks on my arms, legs and stomach. They barely healed which was strange. I tried to move to a sitting position.. the bruise marks stung as I did so. My hands were still shackled together. I glanced around the dark room. I wanted to leave, escape this place and these wolves too. What different are they from wolves of Bloodmoon pack? They're worse, infact... My thinking was put to halt when the door to the room opened. My insides shook with fear. Are they here to continue where they finished off?. I backed up against the wall, wrapped my arms around myself. I buried my face in between my thighs,. praying to the goddess that they spare me and let me go.

I winced, shedding quiet tears. 'Please, let me go.'

Moments passed without being touched or spoken to by the guard that just came in. I slowly raised my head to behold the figure before me, only to be caught by surprise. He was not one of the guards like I predicted. He was different. Someone noble like with a more higher status. A Gamma. A Beta. An Omega? He was huge. About 6ft tall, well built and very handsome, I must admit.

The sweet smell that filled my nose that instant, the unexpected connection and yearn for him.... It was enough to put me out of my misery.

'Who are you?' I requested in a small voice.

'Mate..' My beast growled..

His face pulled into a frown at the question. He knew and he expects me to know too that we are mates. I didn't know whether to be happy or not. I just bumped into my mate in the most feared pack. A mate who appears very unimpressed at my sight. I pressed my lips together and a whole new kind of fear settled in the pit of my stomach..

'We aren't about to get rejected, Yeah?' Katrina blurted.

A guard came in, crouched down to my length and relieved me of the shackles. He left, thereafter.

This Man or shall I say, My supposed mate had an indifferent look on his face while he stared at me. Standing tall over me with arms behind, he stated out his order.

“Follow me.”

Without a thought, I succumbed. Still weak and dehydrated, my feet dragged behind him, following him wherever he was taking us. We passed doors, went farther into the dark halls.
