“I'd be taking a huge gamble on this investment, Miss Alvara“ Davidson Reed, the CEO of Vintage enterprises says to Alvara. “Can you promise me that I won't come to regret my decision?“
I'd set up this meeting between Reed and Alvara. I was confident that their collaboration would be the best way to help Alvara's company bounce back into the spotlight.
Reed only decided to meet up with Alvara if I came along but fuck it, my mind wasn't even on their conversation right now.
It was on that kiss with Alvara from earlier.
Why did she kiss me? I mean, she was clearly aware of how I felt for her. If she didn't feel the same, what was that kiss for?
Damn. I was confused as hell but I want to kiss her again—if she lets me.
My gaze lands on Alvara's lips as she discusses some inaudible nonsense with Reed. Those soft lips. I want them again.
She turned to face me, “What do you think, Kai?“
I snapped out of my thoughts. What did I think about what?
“I think it's a really good idea.“ I say, not trying to give them the impression that I wasn't listening. “You're definitely in good hands, Mr Reed“
Reed extends his hands out to Alvara for a handshake. “Then I look forward to working with you, Miss Foley. Oh, my bad. I forget you are divorced now“
“You stand corrected, Mr Reed“ I chime in. “She's still a Foley as Alvara is going to be my wife soon“
Reed's gaze widened with surprise. “Then you have my utmost congratulations in advance“
“Thank you, Mr Reed“ Alvara responds, accepting his handshake. “I won't let you down“
As Alvara and I exited Reed's office, I congratulated her.
“Congratulations on taking the first step to rebuilding your company. You pulled that all on your own“
“Do you think so? I think if I hadn't played the voice recording you gave me earlier to Mr Reed, my chances would have been quite slim“
Maybe it would have. But I honestly believe Reed saw potential in Alvara. He wasn't a man to make rash decisions especially when his money was involved.
If Reed couldn't see an idea excelling, he'd rather pull out completely.
“Regarding the voice recording, I believe you're using it the wrong way if you truly want your revenge“
Alvara furrowed her brow, “How so?“
“You can openly reveal it to the press. Then file charges against Williams and Andrew for defamation“
“Can I do that?“
A slow smirk dreads across my face. “Yes, you can and I would help you with that. The press is already swarming outside Vintage enterprises. They must have caught both of us strolling in earlier“
That's a lie. I called them.
“If you want Williams to pay for what he's done to you; you need to get him cornered, Alvara“ I explained. “And no better way to doing so that publicly expose Williams of what he's capable of“
Bursting out the main entrance door of Vintage enterprises, the press flicked Alvara and I.
“Miss Alvara, what do you have to say about the plagiarism claim made against your company?“
“You've avoided being seen in public since the last scandal. What brings you to Vintage enterprises today?“
“Is it true you and Mr Foley are divorced?“
Their non-stop questions rambled on. Just when I decided to step in, Alvara spoke up.
“Yes, Williams and I are divorced“ She replies. “But I don't regret it one bit because Williams Foley was the person that sold off my company's product design and idea to Andrew, the CEO of J INTERIOR“
Pulling out the voice recorder, she continues. “Here is the evidence I have of the deal made between Williams and Andrew regarding their joint attempt to steal my company's product design and idea and release it on the same launch date as me—but a minute earlier“
Then, she played the voice recording at its loudest volume.
The reporters gasped in shock. “How are we certain this voice recording is real and not forged?“
“Because I'm the one who handed it to Alvara“ I chimed in. “I was at home the day Williams and Andrew were having this conversation. I didn't know Alvara's company was the target so I couldn't act quickly“
“To this fact, I would like to press charges against Williams Foley and the CEO of J INTERIOR, Andrew for the slanders made against my company“ Alvara continued. “Each person would be sued and made to pay a fine of 10 million dollars, the initial principal that was needed to birth the particular product that was stolen from me to compensate the damages caused“
“This principal would be used to restart my company from scratch. Most investors must have been disappointed regarding the last scandal but I promise, it won't happen again“ She adds. “I intend to use the upcoming collaboration project I have with Mr Reed to prove that. So please, keep an eye on me“
“In addition to this, the fee Williams Foley would have to pay would be doubled. This is because he used my home—as well as the items in it as a collateral to take loans from banks.“
“Williams Foley is not a man to be trusted. Anyone who has intentions of collaborating with him for future deals should be wary of this or you'd most likely end up like me”
The reporters nodded in agreement as I stared at Alvara in awe. As expected, she was remarkable. I had no doubt in mind that she could pull this off.
Now that the first strike has been made, let me watch and see how Williams intends to get out of this.
“Last but not the least—before more rumors spread about me, I'd like to make one more thing publicly known“ She states, taking my hands in hers in an affectionate manner and showing it to the press, “Kai Foley and I are engaged to be married“
