Chapter 3 Crane's POV

What I did was the right decision. I can’t say it is the best but it was better. I always knew Amelia was special. From the day they brought her into our castle till now I knew there was something about her and if she transformed, my brother would use her for his evil deed.

Charming her was not my intention. She was just so different; her scent, aura, hair and blood. It didn’t really have an Alpha scent but something more than that and I knew that she deserved better. I couldn’t really stand still and watch them bully and torture her every time; especially that Lydia, my brother’s luna. No one will tell her but we all know that she is jealous of Amelia. Maybe she also senses her aura as well.

That night under the moonlight I had accepted her, rejecting her was the best option at that moment. If I had accepted as my mate then things would have gone really bad for her and I didn’t want that. I love her. From the first day she came into the castle I have loved her and that is the reason I will not allow my brother to use her.

I was at the engagement dinner and I couldn’t find Amelia anywhere. I didn’t see her throughout the day and I was hoping to see her during dinner. Karla, her best friend was there so where was she? I called for Karla.

“Where is Amelia?” I asked her plainly.

“She got cut in the kitchen. Couldn’t heal fast.” She told me.

I sighed and waved my hand for her to leave. Honestly, it was better that she didn’t come so that I would not be distracted. After that night we haven’t talked. I didn’t know what to tell her because nothing can make up for what I did. Whenever she serves, she always looks at me. I could see it in her eyes, she wanted me to say something, but in the end I always disappointed her.

“Crane, is something wrong?” Eliot asked. I looked at him. He is the cause of all this. The sad part of everything is that I don’t have the guts to speak. I could never speak up to my alpha. they will have me killed.

I gave a small smile. “All is well.” I assured him.

Eliot gave me a smile and stood up. He picked up his glass of champagne, a fork and hit the glass lightly with it to get everyone’s attention for a toast.

“Thank you all for coming here to celebrate our union with us. We hope with this alliance we will be able to make both packs prosper. To the Crescent moon!” he said and raised his glass.

“To Crescent moon!'' We all responded with our glasses raised. I looked at Lydia. She was so happy and it made me sad. She had no idea that my brother was just using her.

The dinner was finished and it was time for the ball. I had to change my outfit to suit the ball. It was a masquerade party so we all had masks. The maids had helped me get changed. It reamed the tie. There was a knock on the door and I heard the door open. Only one person will come in without permission and that is Eliot. I was staring at the mirror. I didn’t want to look at him.

“Leave us.” I heard him say.

I was by the mirror trying on my tie, I was kind of struggling with tying. Eliot came over and offered to help. I couldn’t say no. He sent all the maid away and I certainly can’t tie myself.

“Don’t mess this up for me. This is very important for our pack. If this doesn’t go through, you know what will happen.” Honestly, I didn’t know what would happen if things went wrong. He finished with my tie and patted me on the back.

“I will see you out there.” He said and left.

By the time I came down for the party, it was already in full bloom. All the guests had already arrived and they were all dancing. It was so beautiful. I will not lie; my brother has good taste when it comes to things like this. him and Lydia were on the dance floor with other guests. I stood by the side. I wasn’t really in the mood to dance that day knowing that, it was all a scam. The music stopped and other guests clapped.

Suddenly, the claps stopped and it was like the world was still; for just one person, never seen. A lady made it stop. She took the crowd's attention. It was like she was the one getting engaged and not Lydia. Before I could turn and ask who she was, wolves were already asking her for a dance. Then I knew she was troubled.
