Chapter 2 : One

There are times in life when one walks a narrow path and struggles not to lose direction of the end goal.

The person that walks the narrow path gets lost sometimes and it is their decisiveness, the resoluteness that enables them to continue...

The decisions they make as they continue walking the path regardless of how long, straight, or winding will define how they will face the consequences of their decision.

And how ironic that this life as it demands one to make decisions, the consequences will somehow start haunting the decision maker, making them swallow the bitter pill someday.

And when the day of reckoning comes, settling scores more often than not demand some kind of revenge, or justice.

The day when retribution comes to fruition will be inevitable, and somewhat painful, and there's no escaping it.

Isabellelay under the stars in her room with the thought that the day of reckoning for the bad decisions she made is slowly coming and the rippling effect of it reverberates in her entire soul.

2AM

She has to be asleep because she has to go donate blood tomorrow but sleep eludes her. An uneasy feeling is slowly burdening her heart heavily and the feeling wants to be free but she could not.

Her phone buzzed with a notification. It's suspicious how she is receiving something this late. It’s not like the man she married would bother checking up on her at such an ungodly hour.

How can you say you are married to this man when he was never yours? He would never be yours.

Pain

A silly dream that she built in her head, hoping her husband would come to his senses slowly dissolves as he looks at the message sent to her.

Whoever sent this knew she would be wallowing in misery and eventually, try to escape the excruciating pain she has tried to swallow.

But then she knew why her alpha needed her in the first place, her blood was the reason why he married her but she could not take the pain that was slowly tearing her heart up.

At first, she thought she could take it but she was wrong, she couldn't.

They got married in front of a judge with no witnesses, no guests, no party, and no honeymoon, not even a ring.

He left immediately after they were done.

She took her bags and was picked up by the chauffeur who brought her to Zayden’s house where she was left alone with some staff.

She was compensated though for every three weeks, she would donate blood and Zayden would wire her 1.2 million as compensation or payment.

They have been together for two years and a few months and Isabellehad saved enough money to finally get her freedom without guilt or remorse.

Sleep finally found her in the wee hours of the morning.

Later that morning she dragged herself out of bed as the driver took her to the hospital.

"Thank you, Cole," Isabellesaid to the driver who has always been so kind to her since she got married to Zayden.

Well, the staff are nice or maybe they just feel Sorry for her because they knew the bitter truth about her relationship with the master of the house.

A notification popped up on her phone, she had a week before her heat or what Dr Spencer told her the schedule of her heat should be.

As a recessive omega, she hasn't experienced a full heat since she hit puberty, she only had mild symptoms, sometimes no symptoms.

“I should be fine”, she thinks.

The alpha stood in the hallway waiting for her with his arms crossed on his chest, "you are late!" Zayden yelled and shook his head.

"Yeah, well I didn't sleep well," Isabellereported, feeling faint, weak and a bit dizzy.

“Did you take the vitamins the doctor prescribed you?"

Isabelleshook her head, "they make me nauseous maybe because I am nearing my heat," she says, avoiding  his eyes, lying.

"Oh, is it that time?" Zayden asked.

"And the doctor advised me not to donate blood at this time," Isabellesaid.

"Vivienne, you promised," Zayden warned.

"And I am not backing out of it," she responded.

The nurse sent her to the blood donation room and set her up.

"Are you okay, Mrs Prescott?" The nurse asked.

"Just take the blood so I can go home and sleep," she said looking at the floor.

"Okay Mrs Prescott," the nurse smiled.

They set up the blood draw and after 45 minutes, a pint of his blood was sealed and delivered to the blood bank to be processed and his previous donation was to be sent to the room where Zayden and Alison ware.

"Mrs Prescott, do you need anything?" Asked the nurse as she cleaned her up.

"I just need to go to the toilet," she said, feeling weaker.

"You are very pale, you should drink some Orange Juice," the nurse recommended. "I will after I go the restroom,"

"Okay, call out if you need anything,"

She stepped outside at the same time the door to the other room opened.

She stood there frozen as she watched Zayden hold another omega in his arms.

Zayden stroked Alison’s forehead lovingly as she got a blood transfusion.

Vivienne’s cellphone beeped with a notification. 1.2Million has been deposited into her account.

She smiled sadly as he looked at Zayden.

Suddenly, an overwhelming heat enveloped her body as she released a strong strawberry vanilla pheromones.

Zayden’s head whipped toward the door as he saw Isabellestanding, pale and weak.

She l held on to the doorknob feeling nauseous.

She knew he was going to faint due to the sudden change in his body.

Her surroundings started spinning and her knees buckled.

She looked at Zayden, "Zayden help," before everything turned dark.

Zayden was about to get up and rush towards her  to help when Alison touched his hand lightly, her face looking up at him, "let the nurses take care of Vivienne, I need you here."

Zayden then stayed seated.

He was worried and guilty.

He looked at Isabellebeing helped by the medical staff as he held on to the omega he promised to care for.
