Chapter 3

Amna Nihal 888 words

Next morning, the sun was up.

Loads of clouds covered the sky, still a beam of sunshine emitted through

the opening from the clouds.

It was 9:30 pm. I get up, and walk to the window. The morning was less

creepy and much beautiful. At least a couple of birds were seen on these huge

black leafless trees, chirping and flying around.

As I open the window, a cold breeze blow through my hair, as a shiver run

through my spine.

As I breathe in the fresh air, my eyes shove off the sleep.

I glance at Aliya, she was still in deep sleep.

I walk to the bathroom to get changed.

I take a cold shower and put on my favorite white top and black check shirt on top with black ripped jeans.

As I make breakfast in the kitchen, Ayesha sitting by the kitchen counter,

Aliya climb downstairs, rubbing her eyes.

"New and creepy place, but still what a peaceful sleep. God!" Said Aliya,

stretching. She pulls a chair beside Ayesha by the counter.

"Wow, this morning way better than the noon."

Said Aliya, resting her head on the counter table.

"Yeah, sure it is." I sigh.

I agreed, looking out from the kitchen window, above the sink. Which opened to the front lawn.

Something is weird about this place. I do like far and peaceful places, but this place, this place was too silent and creepy. Everything was so. . . .dead. Not even a single creature from the outside world could be seen. I got this

feeling since I got here, like cold trapped in my chest.

I snap out from my thoughts.

"So, do you go to school?" I asked, turning to Ayesha.

"Nope, homeschooled." She said.

"Oh! So, you got no friends?" I said. "Nothing to worry," I smile at her. “You got us now. Right Aliya?”

I turn to Aliya, who was busy snoring. As I look at Ayesha, I find her giggling at her.

I pull out a glass from the cabinet, fill it with tap water pour a drop on

Aliya’s head.

"Whoa! Whoa! I’m awake! I’m awake!" Aliya started yelling.

Me and Ayesha burst out a laugh and share a high five.

"Yeah, great, thank you!" Said Aliya rubbing her eyes.

As the breakfast was ready, I toss some bread on a plate from the toaster,

slide the omelet on the plate and some pancakes on each plate.

I pass each plate to both of them and pour coffee in each cup.

"So, Ayesha, don't your parents keep some creepy stuff around? Or aren't there any secret passageways or rooms?" Said Aliya getting curious, as it was her

nature and she couldn’t help it.

"This house is big enough, to hide loads of stuff easily." She said, looking

around. And I shoot her a fierce look.

"Yeah, they do, but they don't tell me. There is a secret room somewhere in

this house, probably inside some wall or something."

Ayesha replied.

"Oooh interesting" Said Aliya.

"And yeah, so do they h____"

Aliya couldn't finish as I interrupt. "Ayesha. Why don't you get dressed, so we could go out somewhere?" I said, changing the subject.

"I’m not allowed without mom or dad."

Ayesha replied.

"Oh! So, maybe we could watch some movie?" I said.

"Yeah! How to train your dragon!"Said Ayesha, getting exited. She jump off her chair.

"Ill be back in a minute." She said and run to her room upstairs

"Cool"

I said to myself.

I turn to Aliya, who was busy eating her breakfast. “I need you in the

room."

I get off my chair and walk upstairs.

A while later someone knocked on the door.

"Who is it?"

I asked, sitting by the corner of my bed waiting for Aliya.

"Who could it be?" Said Aliya from the other side of the door.

"Come in." I sigh

"What?" She asked, walking in and closing the door behind her.

"What is wrong with you?" I asked her, fiercely getting up from my bed, walking to her.

"What? what did I do." She asked.

"What did you do? You're asking me what you did?" I said.

"Why were you asking Ayesha about all that creepy stuff or whatever.

Mind your own business."

"Sarah, you're overreacting.” Sighed Aliya.

“We are baby sitters, we should know about each and every place we go to. You

never know, what they're hiding. They could be head hunters, or trap ghosts in basements, or drink human blood, or feed on humans, or____"

I stop immediately stop Alliya before she could complete.

"Aliya, Aliya, enough of your imagination. Okay? It's nothing like that. And I’m literally done with your 'adventurous insect', that keeps biting you at

every new place!” I say.

“Enough of your exploring stuff. Okay?"

I pause for a moment then continue.

"Listen, we are far away from the city. Kay? And alone in a huge mansion, with an 8 year old child. So the conclusion is that, I DON'T WANT ANY TROUBLE. Get

it?"

I finally finish taking a deep breath.

"Got it. I won't cause any trouble"

She nodded.

"Promise?" I asked.

"Promise." She said, crossing her fingers behind her back.

"Who is it?" I ask as someone knocked on the door.

The door slightly creak open and Ayesha peak through the gap.

"Movie?" She said.

"Oh yeah. I almost forgot." I say, leaving the room and following Ayesha

downstairs to the living room.
