Chapter 4 Forgiving Him!

Ava John 1.8k words

"What are you doing here?" I asked glaring at Gannon. He was the last person I was expecting to see even though this wasn't my house. My face twisted in a frown as I saw the smile on his lips.

"Hi, can I come in?" He asked ignoring my question. I had to resist the urge to slam the door in his face after giving him an earful seeing he still maintained his smile and composure.

"What's going on Eleanor? Is there a problem?" Nova asked ambling towards me.

"Gannon, you are here already. Come in," Nova smiled as she walked past me and stood in front of the door. She paved the way for Gannon, and he entered the room.

I shifted my gaze to her staring at her intently.

"You knew he was going to come here, why didn't you tell me?" I questioned crossing my arms.

"Well, I would have but..." Nova started to say, but her phone rang, interrupting her, "I have to take this, excuse me."

"Eleanora, how are you doing?" Gannon asked when Nova was gone.

"It's Eleanor! And I was doing fine until you showed up." I snapped and walked back to where I was sitting earlier. Elenora was my full name but I hated being called that since my Aunt always called me that when she was up to some trouble.

"Calm down, I only came here so I could make things right. I came to apologise since it didn't go so well the last time I tried to talk to you." I heard him say as he trailed after me.

I scoffed moving my gaze to him before averting my gaze back to the television. "I see but I never said I needed your apology.

"I'm sorry. I can at least sit right?" Gannon asked still smiling. A smile that annoyed me to the core.

"Do whatever you want; it's not my business," I mumbled, rolling my eyes at him.

"I have to go to the office right away, something came up," Nova muttered as she descended from the staircase. She was changed into another outfit.

"You look beautiful." I complimented.

"Thank you," Nova grinned picking up her purse from the couch.

"What about the movie? You know what I would wait until you get back so we can watch it together."

I was hoping that Nova wasn't going to leave me alone with Gannon, maybe then I wouldn't be able to control my temper and end up giving him just what he deserved.

"You don't have to wait for me, why don't you and Gannon watch it together? If he isn't in a haste to go." I gave Nova a death stare as I heard those words from her, but she acted oblivious to it; rather, she shifted her gaze to Gannon, awaiting his response, and he nodded.

This time, I moved my eyes to Gannon, who had a smile on his face. I thought he was going to say no, but here he was, accepting to watch the movie with me.

"I thought this was best friends spending time together watching movies, and not a stranger shows up and ruins the plan," I grumbled, glaring at Gannon.

"We can watch another movie next time, I love you, best friend. I'll go now. "Nova chortled blowing me a kiss.

"Bye," I mumbled waving at her.

"So you know I'm not interested in watching any movie with you," I stated turning my attention to Gannon when Nova was gone.

"But it seems the movie is in disagreement." He muttered, pointing at the TV; the movie had begun. Nova did that, she must have played the movie before leaving the room.

"Don't sit close to me," I warned with a straight face when I saw Gannon plop on the couch just beside me.

"Well, earlier you said I could do whatever I want." He shrugged making me shoot him a fevered glare. Not wanting to entertain any more conversation with him, I averted my gaze from him and fixed my eyes on the TV.

The movie was about a wolf(Dylan) who had rejected his mate for another lady(Marie) but then he tried to go back to the mate he had rejected(Eva) when Marie ditched him, but then Eva found another mate, Dylan wanted to kill her newfound mate(Allen) so he could be with her but she killed him instead.

"What's this mate thing about?" I muttered confused. It was the first thing I said after we started to watch the movie. We watched the movie in silence. Despite the fact that Gannon tried several times to start up a conversation, I kept ignoring him.

"It refers to the companion of a wolf. Also, when the male wolf finds his mate, he marks her to show she's taken," Gannon explained, trying to clear my confusion.

"I never asked you; no wonder you and Nova are friends. You are also werewolf-obsessed, right?" I huffed but the response I got was a chuckle.

"I'm glad Eva killed Dylan, some guys can be shitty, thinking they can treat ladies the way they want," Gannon uttered when the movie was over.

I burst out laughing after listening to his words. I glared at Gannon when I regained my composure, "You just described yourself."

"How many times do I have to apologise? We started on the wrong foot, I'm sorry. You can't define me with that incident." He mumbled gazing at me with a sad face. My eyes studied his expression for some time and I could tell his apology was sincere.

I nodded," You are right, I forgive you. I shouldn't continue to judge you with that incident. We all have bad days, don't we?"

"We do?" I sighed answering myself.

"You forgive me?" I chuckled seeing his face lit up with a smile like a child who had been giving his favourite candy. He leaned closer to me making me gawk at him.

"What?" I queried giving him a once-over.

"I was thinking we could hug it out since there's no more bad blood between us." He smiled opening his arms wide.

I laughed wriggling my head. This man was nuts! There was nothing anyone was going to say to make me change my mind about that.

"I don't hug strangers, only friends. And just because I said I forgive you doesn't make us friends." She said.

"Then we should be friends, don't you think?" He smiled stretching his hand for me to shake.

I glanced at his hand and then his face. "In your dreams, I don't want to be friends with you!"

"Ouch, that hurts." A sad expression etched his countenance, and he withdrew his hand, placing it on his chest, feigning to be hurt by my words.

"Since I was responsible for you losing your job, I would like to offer you a job. If you are fine with it." Gannon offered peering at me.

"Thanks but I'm not interested. I don't need a job from you, so you don't say I'm trying to get your attention," Eleanor mumbled.

"I thought we had put that aside; the offer still stands; just think about it." Gannon smiled.

"Oh, you two, I can see you got along well, seeing how close you both are seated." Nova giggled as she walked into the room casting mischievous looks at both of us.

"Welcome back," Gannon said to Nova, but his eyes were on me, and he had a coy smile on his face while he was at it.

"Welcome back," I mumbled, moving away from Gannon, seeing how closely we were seated; I hadn't realised it until Nova mentioned it.

"I'll be on my way now," Gannon said standing up.

"So soon, I hope I didn't interrupt anything." Nova teased shifting her eyes to me, and I rolled my eyes at her.

Gannon chuckled, shaking his head, "No, you didn't."

"What could you possibly have interrupted?" I frowned, looking at her, but she smiled at me.

"Eleanor you should see him off. I have to go get changed. Gannon, you are free to visit whenever you want." After Nova was done saying those words, she dashed upstairs before I could object.

"Looking forward to seeing you more often," Gannon said as we got to the door.

"Hopefully not." I mouthed and he smiled.

"We'll see about that," I said nothing to him afterwards; I just closed the door and walked back to the living room, taking my seat on the couch.

"So how did the movie go?" Nova winked as she ambled into the room and came to sit beside me.

"Why do I feel like you aren't asking about the movie but something else?" I questioned, giving her a suspicious glance, and she laughed.

"Well, you aren't wrong. Tell me everything that happened when I was out, don't leave anything out." Nova stated leaning closer, a gigantic grin spreading across her face as though she was about to receive the best news of her life.

"We've got a lot to talk about. Why did you have to invite Gannon over?" I scowled my icy stare descending on her.

"He insisted on coming to apologise to you and couldn't say no. I'm sorry I didn't inform you." Nova gave me an apologetic look and held my hand.

"It's fine, where were you able to fix the problem at the office?" I sighed looking at Nova.

"Yes, stop giving me that look like I planned everything or faked the call." Nova chuckled.

"Is that your conscience speaking? Well did you?" I asked her.

"Of course not, what is destined to be will be," Nova spoke eagerly. "So tell me, what happened when I was gone?"

"Nothing much, I forgave him."

"Yay!" Nova threw her arms in the air while smiling making me wonder if I said anything worth her reaction.

"Is that all?" Nova asked.

"Were you expecting something else?" I huffed under my breath, peeking at Nova, who had a smirk plastered on her face.

"No," Nova muttered. Her lips pressed together as she shook her head in disappointment. That was the confirmation I needed, she was definitely expecting to hear something else!
