Chapter 2 Seeing Him Again!

Ava John 2.1k words

"Werewolves, come on now Nova, that's the funniest joke of the century. I've told you over and over again that werewolves don't exist. Those are just myths." I mumbled, trying to stop my mirth, but I ended up bursting into laughter again. Nova loved to talk about werewolves and regardless of what I always said, it wasn't enough to make her stop believing that werewolves weren't real.

"I wonder why you find this funny anytime I bring it up. Werewolves do exist, one day you would believe me and I would tell you that I told you so." Nova huffed, peeking at me, but I laughed even more,e, ignoring her icy look.

Me and Nova have been friends for quite some time now, someone who didn't know us would think that we were related because of how much we cared for each other. Nova was more like my guardian angel, she was there to always help me out of trouble.

"Come now, don't tell me that you are pissed. Help me up." I mumbled stretching my hand to Nova when I saw the scowl that had taken over her face.

"I won't, after all, I wasn't the one who made you fall out of the chair while laughing." Nova shrugged shaking her head.

"Whatever, you can be so petty at times. I love you regardless best friend." I smiled as I got off the ground.

Nova frowned at my words and folded her arms across her chest. "Are you trying to buy me with those words? Sorry, it won't work this time."

I nodded, walked over to Nova, and wrapped my arms around her.

"It always works dear best friend." I giggled and began to tickle her.

Nova tried to keep a straight face but she failed and ended up bursting into laughter.

"Don't do that again," Nova mumbled amidst laughter stepping away from me.

"See it worked, works every time." I smiled, raising my arms in the air, feeling very pleased with myself.

Nova was about to say something but she kept quiet when Peyton walked into the room. Peyton had blonde hair and big brown eyes. She had a silver-coloured nose ring on her nose, her lips were painted with bright red lipstick, and she had a white tank top on and a black skirt which stopped right on her thighs. She glared at Nova and then me.

"I just got back from hanging out with my friends, and I discovered that you haven't washed and ironed the clothes I had kept," Peyton mumbled glaring at me.

I smiled as I watched her speak. Peyton has always been like that; she always expected me to do all the chores and even do her laundry like I was her maid while she would sit and do nothing other than give commands.

"Don't you have something to say! I've been talking, and you've been silent, sighing like a moron." Peyton yelled her eyes darkening with rage.

"Do you have to be this annoying Peyton?" Nova muttered arching a brow at her before I could say a word.

"Oh please, Nova stay out of this! Else!" Peyton threatened.

"Or else what?" Nova laughed making Peyton upset.

I knew I had to intervene, or else this was going to turn into something disastrous. Nova wasn't someone who would watch anyone insult her and do nothing, she believed in you get what you give.

Nova stood seeing how Peyton's fist clenched and her face turned red.

The two were now standing toe to toe, I moved and then stood between them before switching my gaze to Nova, "please calm down."

"Just let me put this fool in her place, she has done enough. I'm not scared of her." Nova fumed.

"I know but don't you have better things to do with your time? She isn't worth it." I smiled holding Nova's hand.

"Fine, I'm only backing down because of you," Nova uttered stepping away and plopping on the couch behind her.

"What did you just say, Eleanor? I'm not worth her time." Peyton raged scowling at me.

I chuckled nodding my head in affirmation. "Why do you look surprised? We both know you aren't worth it. About your clothes, you've got your hands. Do you expect me to do your laundry? Well, I won't."

"Don't talk to me that way!" Peyton seethed, and before I knew it, she pushed me.

"You have such weak hands, cousin," I laughed, maintaining my balance; I only staggered a little by her push.

"That isn't how to push someone; you do it this way," I mumbled, stretching my hands forward; I pushed Peyton, and the next sound I heard was that of her landing close to the door.

"How dare you?" Peyton burst into tears, her big eyes bulged out as she stared at me and then Nova whose mocking laughter had filled the room.

"What? I was just showing you how to push someone. Did it hurt? I didn't even use a lot of force." I snickered trying to stop myself from laughing.

"I hate you!" Peyton barked wiping the tears that rolled down her cheeks.

"I know you do, the door calls for you anyway. Make sure you shut it when you leave." I uttered pointing in the direction of the door.

"Sorry Peyton, I'm sure that after that great fall. You'll need to see a doctor." Nova spoke her voice filled with mockery.

"That was a good one best friend." She smiled giving me a high five.

Peyton stood up, she glared at us before walking out of the room and slamming the door.

"Maybe I was a bit too harsh," I muttered.

Nova looked at me with a serious expression studying my face before bursting into laughter and shaking her head. "Of course not, she deserved it. You have super strength, Eleanor, one of the qualities of a werewolf."

"Come on now, which werewolf series did you watch this time." I chuckled as she stared at my best friend. Nova was werewolf obsessed, as I loved to call it; there was hardly a conversation we ever had that ended without Nova bringing up werewolves.

"What has that got to do with what I'm saying?" Nova glared at her.

"Everything, I think you should stop watching those movies, series or whatever you call them. They are making you go crazy." I sighed.

"Did you see what happened with Peyton? You just pushed her a little and she landed close to the door. Does that look ordinary to you?" Nova stood up ambling me to me.

"I have to go take a shower, remember we have somewhere to go to, don't we?" I smiled taking my towel and rushing into the bathroom before Nova could reach where I was.

Later That Day.....

"Nova, why are we in front of Starks G? It's a very fancy and expensive restaurant, I thought that..."

"Eleanor, there you go again. This is my treat, you've got nothing to worry about." Nova smiled. She looked at Eleanor. She had told her countless times that there was no need to work hard for money if it wasn't going to be spent; maybe she needed a reminder. "Best friend, money is meant to be spent right? Why else would we work for it if we don't get to enjoy it?" Nova didn't even let me finish, she just cut me off and drove into the parking lot. When she was properly parked, she turned off the ignition and peered at me with a scrunched-up expression.

Nova was a wealthy lady aside from the fact that her family was super-wealthy, she had her own money. She told me of her plans to treat me to a ladies' evening out and she tried her best to convince me before I agreed. Nova was an extravagant person, while I was the opposite; I always wanted things to be as simple as they could be.

"Fine then, as you say," I mumbled opening the car's door and stepping out.

"We can go shopping after this, and don't say no," Nova said, walking over to where I was after she got out of the car.

"I won't, bills on you. Why would I refuse," I smiled.

"Good girl," Nova muttered.

I looked around admiring the scenery of the restaurant as we walked in.

"I love this place." I grinned, glancing at Nova, whose lips widened in a proud smile.

"I bet you do."

After taking our seats, a waiter came to us and they placed our orders.

"It's been a while since you spoke about Blake, is everything ok with you guys?" I asked, sipping my glass of wine; after placing the glass on the table, I moved my gaze to Nova, who was chortling.

"Blake, that guy isn't my type." Nova shrugged.

My eyes widened as I stared at her in disbelief. " Did I hear you right? Just two days ago, you were all dreamy about him, and now he isn't your type. Tell me did something happen?" I inquired.

For all I knew, Nova liked this guy a lot, even though Nova was someone who hung out with a lot of guys. I was the only female friend she had, and I had never seen Nova so interested in any guy as she was with Blake.

"Well, I saw him with another lady, but I don't care," Nova stated, shrugging her shoulders. Her shoulder drooped as she spoke, her lips pressing against each other.

"You saw him with another lady, Did you ask him who she was?"

"I didn't, just leave that be and let's enjoy ourselves."

"Hey, Nova."

I shifted my gaze to the guy who was approaching us. My chest clenched in annoyance as I saw him come to stand in front of us.

"You?" I barked.

The sight of him made me boil with rage, the last person I was expecting to see was him, not after what he had done to her. I watched as recognition dawned on his face and a smile slipped on his face.

"Calm down crazy, this is a public place." He smiled. The smile on his face upset me even more; I furrowed my brows, scowling at him. The fact that he was acting like everything was ok made me feel like giving him resounding slaps because he deserved them.

"You two know each other, I had no idea that you knew Gannon." Nova turned to me, a joyous beam taking over her face as she spoke.

"You know this rude jerk?" I asked glaring at him.

"Yeah, you don't? He is Gannon Starks the CEO."

"I do know how arrogant he is. Are you stalking me, Mr Gannon, or whatever your name is?" I asked still fixing my gaze on him.

"Of course not, why would I?" He lifted amused brows at me.

"Can I at least take a seat?"

"Yes," Nova smiled.

"No," I shook my head and then turned to Nova. My brows creased when I saw that Nova was full of smiles.

"Thank you, Nova," Gannon smiled, sitting down, and ignoring my refusal.

"I do think there's some bad blood between you two, and I would love to know why." A mischievous smile played on Nova's visage as her eyes darted from me to Gannon.

Gannon cleared his throat making us shift our attention to him. "I know you have every right to be upset with me. I shouldn't have done what I did, I was just so pissed that day but I admit I was wrong for transferring my aggression to you. I'm sorry. I would be glad if you forgive me. Please."

I peeked at him and refused to utter a word, there was nothing l hated like people doing stupid things deliberately and then apologising afterwards.

"Well, I don't care if you are sorry or not; I lost my job because of your foul attitude. You are just an arrogant jerk and I want nothing to do with you!" I seethed in anger standing up to my feet. I averted my gaze from him to Nova.

"I'll be outside, Nova. I can't be here with this man."
