Chapter Three
Amelia pov
The night was filled with tension, I was soaked in the water from the pool, and everybody stared at me, including Xavier as I stood at the centre. I know Xavier will start accusing me.
Xavier, who was soaked as well, glared at me with a mixture of disbelief and anger.
Aurora, the master minder of the mess, watched the drama she started with a sly grin.
“How could you push her into the pool?” Xavier demanded, his voice sharp, cutting through the crowd that had already started to gather.
“I didn't do it; she fell into the pool on purpose,” I tried to explain, my words rushed and hopeless, making an effort to reach through Xavier's judgment.
In a surprising turn, Xavier who was angry and looking furious made an effort to push me into the pool as well.
As he pushed me, Dwayne, stepped in in the nick of time and held me from entering into the pool, preventing another mess of public embarrassment.
“How dare you try to push your wife into the pool, Xavier?” Mrs Bennet, Xavier's grandmother thundered, she was angry by the disgrace that was displayed before her.
“Grandma, can't you see that Amelia pushed Aurora into the pool?” Xavier argued, that his love for Aurora blinded his eyes, that he wouldn't see her wrong.
Mrs Bennett, seeing everything that happened retorted with anger, “You brought this woman here, and all she could do is cause a commotion at this party. Can't you see everyone is watching? How could you defend this woman in public and embarrass your wife?
“Grandma, Aurora won't even hurt a fly” Xavier still defends Aurora.
“Fine, we will check the security footage to see who is lying then.” his grandmother said.
Xavier ignored his grandmother's suggestions, Instead, he forcefully grabbed my arm, leading me away from the burning gazes of the people at eh party.
"Go to the house, since you decided to disgrace me in front of all these notable people," he spat, at me, with his words filled with anger.
I was hurt, tears filled my eyes, and they started pouring out.
"Why can't you believe me, Xavier? Aurora pushed herself into the pool. I didn't do it." I said but my defence fell on deaf ears as Xavier continued his relentless march toward our awaiting car.

Xavier stormed through the front door, his anger palpable. The moment he entered, he didn't waste any time accusing me of what had transpired at Mrs Basil's birthday.
“Why? Why do you have to disgrace me this evening?" he asked angrily, his words cutting through the air.
I stood my ground in defending myself, desperate to make him understand. "I have tried to tell you that I did not push Aurora into the pool; she is full of pretence," I pleaded.
"You're a big fat liar. Aurora is not like that. You're the one who is full of pretence," Xavier retorted, defending Aurora. I couldn't help but scoff at the blind loyalty he displayed.
"Is your love for Aurora so blind that you can never find fault in whatever she does that is bad?" I questioned in disbelief.
"Yes, you can say all kinds of things, but you and I both know that it's Aurora I like," he declared.
"But I'm the one who you should love because we are married," I said, my heart breaking with each word.
"Don't you dare talk about marriage because this union was staged by my grandmother," Xavier spat angrily.
"I never had feelings for you, but after our one-night stand and the wedding, I see you as my husband. What can I do to make you love me the way you love Aurora?" I asked, tears welling up in my eyes.
Xavier's eyes flashed with anger as he glared at me. Suddenly, he pushed me onto the bed, and I fell onto the soft mattress. Even though the mattress was soft, instill felt pain, because he pushed me, and I knew what would happen next.
"Maybe you should do your duty as a wife," he said coldly, removing his belt as he moved towards me on the bed. Before I knew it, he started kissing me aggressively, his actions fueled by a violent desire.
I couldn't fight back; this was a habit I had sadly grown accustomed to whenever he wanted to have sexual intercourse with me. I closed my eyes, letting the tears roll down my cheeks as he thrust into me aggressively.

In the morning
I had hoped for a fresh start, a chance for Xavier to see my efforts toward our marriage.
Embracing a little hope, I decided to bring breakfast to Xavier, who was already dressed for work.
I inhaled and exhaled as I entered the bedroom with a smile, but instead, I was met with an unexpected storm of anger from Xavier when he saw the tray of food in my hand. "What the fuck are you doing, Amelia?" Xavier's said with his
I ignored him, as I placed the tray on the side table, trying to be on my best behaviour.
He stood up suddenly, and I seized the opportunity to dish out the food onto a plate, bringing it to him.
"Take this, I made breakfast for you," I said, extending the plate toward him with a smile on my face.
However, his next move destroyed any hope that was left inside of me.
With a forceful push, Xavier sent the plate flying from my hands, the food scattering across the floor. The room was filled with a moment of silence as he glared at me. "What do you think you are doing?" he demanded, his anger evident.
I became speechless, I stood frozen, my heart hurt by his sudden move. Before I could say anything or understand why he threw away my hard sweat, I spent hours preparing this meal for him. Xavier pushed me, causing me to lose my balance and fall to the ground. Tears welled up as the pain, both physical and emotional, crushed me.
"What can I ever do for you that will make you appreciate me for once, Xavier?" I asked, my voice shaky as tears streamed down my eyes.
"Maybe you should just get the fuck out of my life," he yelled, his words cutting through the air like a knife. In an act of further cruelty, he pulled something from his pocket and threw it at me. It landed in my lap, a contraceptive pill.
"Go on and take it while I watch you," he commanded, his tone authoritative. My heartbeat was faster, and I became aware that Xavier didn't want me to carry his child.
