#Chapter2

The teacher was about to start the class when my dad's beta, who was appointed the school's director, entered the room.

Director - Good morning, teacher. I'll just borrow 5 minutes.

Teacher - Good morning, Director. Of course.

Director - Good morning, everyone.

Everyone - Good morning, Director.

Director - Let's welcome your new classmate.

We all turn our attention to the door, and I see a girl entering, dressed all in black with three-colored hair - blue, blonde, and black. It's the girl from my dreams. Suddenly, a scent of strawberries and chocolate hits me. Oh no, the crazy thing is my mate.

My wolf jumps and shouts MATE, but then I catch a whiff of something human. It can't be, my mate is human? But how? What is she doing in a school for wolves? I wonder if my dad knows that his friend's daughter is a human, or could he be a human too?

I'm pulled out of my thoughts when the girl speaks. I look at her face and notice several piercings, but even so, she's beautiful with her stunning blue eyes.

Nikki - Hi, my name is Nicole Balvanera, but you can call me Nikki. I'm 17 years old and from Mexico.

I can't believe she's 17; she looks older. But what is she doing in university at her age?

Teacher - Please take a seat, Nikki.

Edwin - Guys, I found my mate.

Agustín - Don't tell me it's the weird one.

Edwin - Yeah, how do you know?

Agustín - Because of the idiotic expression on your face.

Pedro - They say humans are really strange.

Edwin - I'll have to take it slow with her. Pedro, when we get back to the pack, find out everything about her.

Pedro - Okay, Alpha.

Agustín - Good luck with your oddball.

End.

NIKKI

After the awkward introduction, I look for a seat. As I pass by a very handsome guy with visible tattoos and a penetrating gaze, it feels like I've seen him before, but I can't recall where.

I head to the back and take the last seat. As I sit down, I hear a growl, like a dog. I start looking around, but it seems like no one else heard it. The teacher starts the class.

After a while, I feel watched. I raise my eyes and see the tattooed guy looking at me. I feel somewhat uncomfortable, so I decide to ignore him and continue. Then I hear another growl. This school is really weird.

I go through a few classes until the bell rings. Everyone leaves the classroom, including me. I head to the cafeteria to get something to eat because I didn't have breakfast due to the argument with my father.

After buying some food, I look for an empty table. Most of them are taken, but I spot one in the distance. I head over and start eating. As I eat peacefully, someone places their tray of food next to mine. I look up in surprise and see the tattooed guy. Soon, his friends also join us at the table.

Judith - Hi, Nikki. I'm Judith. These are Agustín, Pedro, and this is Edwin. (She points to each of them.) So, the tattooed guy is Edwin. Nice name. Honestly, I'm not ready for love or anything like that.

Nikki - Nice to meet you all. Excuse me, I'm done.

I get up from my seat, take my tray, and leave. Soon, the bell rings for my next class, which is physical education.

I'm on the school field, sitting in the stands, watching the cheerleading team. While I watch them, I see the girl who introduced herself earlier. She waves at me, and I simply nod in response.

Next to her is a blonde girl who seems quite artificial. Suddenly, a whistle blows, and I look in the direction of the sound. I see a group of shirtless guys training. Then I hear shouts and whistles. I look around and see several girls. When did they arrive?

I notice that one of the guys is walking toward me. He's stopped by the blonde girl, who pulls him towards her and kisses him. I get up and leave. I really don't want to see any of this. It reminds me of my ex and his betrayal.

(......)

Finally, classes are over. I gather my things and leave the classroom. As I walk to the exit, someone grabs my hand. I turn around and see the girl from the cafeteria.

Judith - Nikki, don't you want to come with us for a while?

As much as I'd like to, I can't. I have to go to practice. If I don't show up, my dad will find out, and I don't want any trouble. I don't want him to remind me of the mess I got into.

Nikki - Thanks, but I can't. I have some things to take care of.

Judith - You know, you have the same eyes as someone very famous I've seen on TV or in a magazine, but you look different.

My eyes widen at what she said. I hope she doesn't remember.

Agustín - Hey, my love, leave the poor girl alone. You're scaring her.

Judith - Let me remember. Well, maybe next time.

Nikki - Yeah.

I leave the school and exhale the trapped air I had. I walk to my car, and next to it, there's a pretty luxurious car. I get in, start my car, and drive to the darn gym.

I arrive, get out of my car with my sports bag, and head to the locker room. I change as quickly as possible into my leotard. The good thing is that my muscle definition hasn't disappeared, thanks to my dad, who makes me train every day in self-defense and various martial arts.

(......)

After the long training session, I'm in a tub filled with ice to reduce muscle inflammation. This is what I get for leaving gymnastics for two damn years.

I get out of the ice tub, put on my pajamas, and lie down on my bed. Honestly, I'm exhausted. My entire body hurts. The good thing is that they didn't assign homework. I don't feel like having dinner. My dad sent me a message saying he'll be late because he still has a lot of work. You have no idea how much I miss my mom right now. I end up thinking about her until I fall asleep.
