Chapter 1 A blind date

Tina 1.3k words

City A, Sunshine Cafe.

Bella Carter, with a stiff smile on her lips, looked across at the ungraceful, balding and paunchy man.

She really gave in to her mother, who was in City C, but was able to set her up again and again. She also threatened her with the reason that she would sever the relationship between mother and daughter if Bella did not go on the blind dates she arranged.

Bella's head hurt. She is only twenty-seven years old this year, although she is a little old for not getting married, but it’s not get to the point to be a leftover lady.

She's gone on eight blind dates this week!

And today is Wednesday. She is really a little unbearable for such a high frequency of blind dates. She looked down at the mobile phone. Why the one she called for help hasn’t shown up yet!

"Ms. Carter?" The man on the other side had a drink, and there were crumbs of cake on the corners of his mouth. He had called several times, but when Bella didn't answer, he couldn't help keeping calling her.

Bella suddenly came to her senses, looked up with a perfunctory smile on her delicate face, and said, "Mr. Yang, are you calling me? Sorry, I was a little distracted and didn't hear you."

The man then picked up the subject and said, "Oh, it's nothing important. That is to say, my impression of you is just ok, with barely satisfactory. As for your impression of me, I am sure, must be very satisfactory."

Bella's perfunctory smile froze again as her hand on the table clenched the cup of coffee in front of her and exhaled deeply.

And she said to herself. Calm down! Bella!

So he had the nerve to give her a reluctant acceptance of the expression. And with his narcissistic attitude, is he feeling a little too confident about himself?

She wanted to spill her coffee on his face right now.

But controlling herself, she gave him a dry chuckle and said, "Well, that’s..."

Mr. Yang looked at Bella and gave her a look of undisguised disgust.

After a while, Mr. Yang said, "You know, I'm a local resident in City A. If we get married, I want you to make the down payment first for our wedding house, and then we get married and slowly repay the loan together."

Bella's mouth twitched again. Did she say she was going to marry him? Why can he be so confident just because he is the local resident in City A? (Some girls may want to marry a man who is a local resident in a big city, because they have better social insurance and rights, such as better education and medication.)

"By the way, Ms. Carter, as you know, I work for the government and I'm very busy. My salary is six or seven thousand dollars a month, which must be much higher than your salary in some advertising company. If we get married, I want you to do all the housework. My parents are getting old. I hope to let them enjoy themselves."

Mr. Yang finished in a breath, and his tone was a little contemptuous of Bella. Until the whole paragraph down, he was not to give her a chance to interrupt.

Bella thought what he tried to say was that he is busy and has high salary. So she has to do all the housework and take care of his parents?

Bella couldn't help it when she saw Mr. Yang acting so arrogant that the whole world revolves around him.

At the same time, she whispered Sabina Cooper in her heart. Sabina, please come and save me right now! Next time when I see you, I’m gonna kick your ass!

"By the way, as for the bride's cash gift, for the sake of not to lose face, the amount may be quite large, but it is just a formality, do you understand what I mean?" (Cash gift is the money the bridegroom should give to the bride during the wedding. Normally the more money they give, showing the richer they are and the more they love the bride.)

Bella put on a smile that was worse than crying. There were all sorts of blind dates out there, but how unlucky was she to meet this guy!

Yes, she got it. It means you bring cash gifts, flash them in front of friends and relatives, and then get it straight back.

Bella moved the corners of her mouth, finally cooling with anger, looked at Mr. Yang and said, "Mr. Yang! I think you're mistaken. I'm not -- A little bit want to marry you!”

But the words were still in her throat, and someone put his hand on her shoulder and sat down beside her.

This is a boy. He is in his early 20s, with clear face lines and excellent facial features, who is very handsome and bright, carrying a trace of evil smile, which is enough to make some young girls crazy for it.

He sat down and looked across at Mr. Yang, and then at Bella beside him, with a brighter smile, and said, "Honey, why are you having coffee with your elders without me?"

Honey! Bella stared at the boy in disbelief.

The handsome boy leaned over and kissed her on the cheek, raised his eyebrows at her, and said, "Honey, you're so cute when you're in a stupor."

Bella's eyes widened until they almost popped out of her head.

Mr. Yang on the other side looked at Bella in the arms of a strange man. His face turned red with anger and he pointed at her, and was unable to utter a complete sentence.

"You... You......"

The handsome boy finally looked at Mr. Yang, removed his evil smile and said respectfully, "You must be Bella's father. Bella and I have been dating for two years, and please, uncle, please allow us to be together. Bella loves me so much!"

Mr. Yang's face was livid with anger. He looked at both of them fiercely and said, "How shameless!" Then he went straight out of the cafe.

He seemed to be extremely mad at them.

And this scene was seen clearly by two people sitting next door, not far away.

Abby Hill, in her voluptuous makeup, smiled scornfully at Bella's table. She turned to Daniel Brook, who was indifferent and handsome, and said softly, "Mr. Brook, those girls are shameless."

She paused and said, "Just like this woman. The boy looked like he was only twenty years old, and they had been together for two years, which was not before she hooked up with him as an adult. The woman is really shameless. She really robs the cradle."

Daniel Brook's indifferent expression remained unchanged, and his mouth still had an extremely elegant smile. He took the coffee in front of him with his hand and took a sip, with a flash of coldness in his dark eyes.

He put the coffee down and thudded the table with a loud noise.

The corners of his mouth curled sarcastically, and his voice was deep and mellow as he said, "Ms. Hill, don't you remember? Were you photographed last month in a car with a 17-year-old male model?"

Abby's expression of contempt froze, her face turned white, and a flustered look flashed across her eyes. "Don't get me wrong, Mr. Brook," she explained, "That was just a fabrication by gossip journalists. It couldn't be me!"
