Chapter Three – At the bar.

(At Present)

Henry's POV

Next in line to be Alpha of the Moonshine pack meant you had less time to play around. My coronation was in a week, same as my birthday.

It was tradition. A stupid tradition. Of all the things I blamed the Moon goddess for, I won’t blame her for this.

Humans celebrated being legal and free at eighteen, while I was gifted the burden of being an Alpha to the strongest pack in North America.

Being an Alpha was tedious but I couldn’t escape my fate. To be fair, I get blessed with a mate, while for humans, they could go to jail.

I heard a high pitch screech, making me wince in pain. My ear lobes vibrated, they were too sensitive to sounds.

Was that a dragon’s screech or no, my brain and it’s tricks.

My mental health was breaking down and at this rate, I’d be mad before coronation. My red eyes and eye bags were becoming more visible.

“Yo! Henry, let’s go meet the girls” my future Beta, Clayton, shouted as he bounced towards me. My ears tried making out his words.

It was evening and we were at the middle of the forest were everywhere was quiet but my ears chose not to function.

My blurry eyes took in his appearance. He had his dark long black hair slicked backwards, so his forehead and blue eyes were prominent.

He wore a little gold earring on his left ear and his lower lip had a piercing. His shirt was tucked under his lower jeans.

Just on looking at it, you can tell that his shirt was hiding a chiseled chest behind them.

“Done checking me out, bro?” he snapped me from my trance. I looked away, “Yes, I'm done”.

He snickered, whipping his horse before getting closer to it to reduce it’s movement. He was such a heartless.

But with his tuxedo jacket on red jeans, he’d be the girls’ magnet at the party we were going tonight.

Well, my plain red shirt, on faded jeans, weren’t bad but certainly not magnetic. I wasn’t planning on getting laid also.

He tossed a jacket to me but I missed it as I was high on my horse. I grumbled, jumping down to get it.

“Stressed?” he asked as he finally mounted his horse.

I shrugged. I shouldn’t be complaining, at least not to him. He’d be Beta when I become Alpha but I’m pretty sure he’d leave everything to me and run after booties. I shook my head and lifted myself to my horse again, wearing the jacket.

I eyed Clayton from the corner of my eyes as he arranged his hair and added some lip gloss to his lips. They looked seducing, as he liked it.

I always wondered how he acquired those things, from his numerous girlfriends perhaps. I wished he had a mate already.

“I caught a red haired recently. Dang, she’s hot”.

I rolled my eyes. Weren’t they all? Hot and sexy. Tight and sweet. Those adjectives. Weren’t they always all that?

“Get a girl for yourself today. You’d be turning eighteen soon. Let lose” he continued.

“It's always better to wait for your mate. Avoid lots of responsibilities by doing so” I tried to defend. My father taught us all but only I heeded.

And the amount of kids I know I helped Clayton avoid having from his girls, if I should get a dollar for each… I’d be a billionaire.

Clayton shrugged while ruffling his hair. I didn’t get him, he had just arranged it. I guess that was the mood swing effect.

“Well, maybe try being a bad boy. Girls like bad boys better than gentlemen, I tell you”.

I rode my horse faster to avoid his constant lectures. I already had a hot tempered wolf and a twisted brain, no time for bad boy shit.

Also I always lost control of myself when I switched to bad boy mode and when I’d switched back, lots of girls, who aren’t my mates, would be waiting to taste me.

I was holding on to the chastity thing but I’ve avoided lots of responsibilities by doing so.

“Can’t wait to meet my red haired bitch. What’s her name again?” Clayton grinned, looking me.

“I don’t know bro. Shut up” I rode ahead.

Since I’ve already vowed to follow him to this one party, let’s get it over with. If my fate still had luck, I’d pass out and wake up on my bed at the mansion.

“Okay, but you’re getting a girl” Clayton concluded as I said nothing.

The ride to the club was faster than I expected, well I wasn’t concentrating. It might have taken around twenty minutes.

We kept our horses in the barn outside. I stroked mine, she neighed, like she was warning me of getting into the bar with Clayton.

I knew I shouldn’t but I stroked her, assuring that I’d come out alive.

“C’mon bro. The girls are waiting”.

I turned but Clayton was already inside. I could hear the loud music and cheers. I wished I had the happiness and free time.

My mother had just invited over my cousin, Fred to my birthday and I know without a doubt that he’d try to compete for the Alpha title again.

And that I had to win again for my father. Those thoughts burned my little brain, making more twisted thoughts.

“Today is Scott’s birthday so he’d be here” Clayton tapped me when I walked in, he had been waiting for me at the entrance.

I felt relief knowing Scott was here, he’d keep me company.

But.. How wrong was I? I was just seeing this side of Scott. The way he made out with every girl that came to him. And how he sexed them!

I had to advert my eyes from him. It was horrifying. So I had a Beta and a Delta who were total chick magnets. I bet they must have exempted me from some conversations about girls cos they know I didn’t dig it.

With them being my sidekicks on the way of being Alpha, I feel like we’d make the worst timeline in history.

I felt a small touch on my torso and I swerved to clash eyes with sexy brown ones, I looked away from her and frowned, she hurried away.

These humans didn’t know their place. Before I could seat down, some other girl had rubbed my back and signed that I follow her. Another human.

None of my pack members would do that, they knew I hated it. I growled at her and she looked down realizing who I was. She’s probably drunk.

I finally made way to a dark enclosed part of the bar and stayed there, trying to get sleepy but how could I, when moans and loud music filled the room?

My wolf suddenly became tensed. He smelled an unknown scent. I knew everyone’s scent at the club, from my pack members to the humans but I couldn’t place this scent.

I double checked to be sure its wasn’t my mind creating things, like the dragon screech earlier. But no, this scent was real and unfamiliar, and if I should add threatening.

The werewolfess drinking besides me became tensed as well so I knew I wasn’t imagining things. Something was coming.

Clayton detached himself from the red haired he was making out with and looked around. I knew he could sense it too. It was almost disturbing.

I was low key grateful he was being alert.

I sneaked out from the dark corner I was at and leaned on the wall, perusing the room. My face distorted at every obscene sight I saw till my eyes landed on her.

My wolf tensed again but I refused to set my eyes off. I had been noticing her quite frequently these days. She was a bewitching sight.

I barely noticed girls from my own pack but this girl was a trumpet one must hear about.
