Chapter Two – A Crazy Alpha.
Jade’s POV
Jake and I carried our ten year old eyes away from the obscene view.
We were just trying to grab a glass of water from the fridge at midnight. A grin planted on our faces as we crept back into our rooms.
I woke up earlier than he did and I spared no time in waking up his ass. We had a mission report to deliver. I slid down the stair handle and nearly bumped into mom’s boyfriend.
Jake followed me but he walked through the stairs as his eyes were half open. He paused when he saw mom’s boyfriend, last night’s view playing in his head. He looked at the man’s downside and frowned. “Your stuff is huge!”.
“What, kid, you check dickprints? That’s kinda gay! Well, thanks!” the man chuckled, ruffling Jake’s hair.
I frowned as my brother reached me. Why did he care if it’s huge? Whatever's huge.
That man was cheating on mom on the couch last night while she slept at his room. I don’t even know why she slept there.
“Well now, we’d finally get rid of that drunkard and cheat!” I highfived Amara after filling her up on what we planned to do.
“Cool but your mom went to work early and we are due for school so your plan would happen later” she rapped and slammed her room door.
Jake and I blinked rapidly trying to take in all she said. I didn’t know if it was Black American thing to rap-talk but I am yet to get used to it.
“Kids! Get ready for school in an hour! Your dad is going to drive you!” the drunkard yelled from downstairs.
I felt like puking. I'd preferred my inconsistent father over a cheating stepdad any day!
As we passed the Moonshine estate on our way to school, I noticed some werewolves in their forms pulling away pieces of… human meat?
It were disjointed hands, legs and some organs I’d assume belonged inside the body. They could be of humans or werewolves but one thing was sure, the battle of yesterday was fierce but ended yesterday. I wasn’t sure who won.
“Kids, enjoy your day! And your mom told me you met some folks at the battle field yesterday. I’d advice you not to speak of it since the Duncan family is at your school, hmm?” mom’s boyfriend gave his ‘fatherly' advice before driving off.
“Okay, you heard the drunkard, right?” Amara smirked. Jake and I snickered, nodding.
“Now, he may not have been in his right senses while speaking so disregard it! Have a nice day fellas!” she saluted, making us roar in laughter.
She left to find her class and we scurried to ours. Some boys were pasting some stickers at the lockers, Jake moved faster to avoid them but my eyes darted to the stickers making me bump into one, “Oops, sorry” I smiled.
Jake gave me a careful look while pursing his lips, “He didn’t take that sorry” he muttered, panting as the boy followed behind us.
Beads of sweat ran down my face as I hurried, glancing at the door signs to know which one was my grade.
“Hey, blonde girl!” a hoarse voice called behind me.
My feet froze, Jake spun into an opened classroom and signaled for me to do the same. I shook my head, I couldn’t run from bullies, they’d catch me and it’d be worse.
Struggling to voice out a stronger tone, I replied, “Yeah?”.
The person wasn’t one of the boys chasing behind me. He had a distinctive dark, gloomy eyes and under his legs were… the boys chasing me sprawled on the floor.
“Where these scums chasing you?” he asked with a low voice. I raised my brows, slowly nodding.
“Oh, good. Cos I felt like punching someone” while he spoke he landed a punch on one of the boy’s face, “And I’d feel bad to punch just anyone so it’s good they’re bullies”.
He dragged a boy up to face level and threw him back, “You’re welcome” he said to me.
Jake pulled me to him, inside the class, “See, this is our class” he pointed at the door sign.
I peeked out to see my strange hero but he wasn’t there, only the boys trying to get back on their feet.
“Jake, did you see that guy?” I flashed my eyes.
He shrugged, “Yeah, I noticed him beating boys twice his size. Doesn’t make him any savior. A person who bullies bully is grand bully” Jake pointed at me, “Stay away!”.
As Jake narrowed his eyes when warning me, I noticed some blonde strands on his hair were out of place, due to our earlier hurrying. With his serious face, he reminded me of a sight I’ve seen.
I slapped his pointing finger and he groaned, “That guy! The ‘grand bully'. He’s that Alpha. He didn’t die. Remember he had dirty blonde hair” I pulled him to a chair.
Jake still had a frown on since I slapped him but his face slowly loosened, he gasped, “Yeah, from yesterday. Wow, he’s really strong to have beaten those boys”.
“Yeah, he’s a werewolf. And he seemed like in a bad mood. Maybe cos of yesterday’s fight” I pouted.
Some tall looking boy walked into the almost empty class, few other boys followed him and I was getting chills.
“Another bully. I already don’t like him” Jake whispered.
The tall boy noticed my eyes on him, I adverted them. “We have another blondies. Hopefully you won’t be trouble!” he stomped to us.
“What do you mean by that?”.
“I mean” the boy glowered at Jake, “If you try causing trouble here, I’d put you in place. I am the wickedest person you’d meet”.
I chuckled, making him snapped his head at me, “And I’m the prettiest person, you’d meet”.
He advanced to me, “You think I am joking!”.
I shook my head, “I don’t think you are. We are bragging, aren’t we? Or aren’t I pretty?” I faked a pout. Jake rolled his eyes.
The tall boy moved back and a grin crept to his face, “Fine, pretty blonde. Just get my message. Don’t cause trouble. Especially with werewolves. They are the bullies of the school so save your pretty face from harm” he shrugged.
Jake turned to me, looking alarmed. I had first-hand seen what a werewolf can do to someone twice their size.
‘Noted, but I don’t think they’d bully us if we do nothing to them!” Jake retorted.
I wished I believed that. That ‘grand bully' was crazy enough to beat up people who didn’t hurt him, not like I’m not grateful he saved me.
“You know nothing blond. A werewolf has an instinct to kill. And as a hunter, I have an instinct to kill them” he held his head high.
“Okay, noted. I’m jade. My brother is Jake. We are twins” I started the introduction.
“I am Devon. Devon Duncan” he smirked. My mom’s boyfriend advice swept into my head but I brushed it off.
“And who is the Alpha boy? We met him at the hallway”. Jake nudged me for bringing that up but he looked expectantly for a name. Devon smirked.
“That my dear, Jade, is the Psycho Alpha. Dare him at your own peril!”.
