Chapter 1 Let's Get a Divorce

Christina hugged the quilt and stared at the door, nervous and expectant.

As the door of the room opened and a cool breeze came in, she was held around the waist by the man, his broad hand touching her waist and gently rubbing it.

"Emond... Don’t do it too roughly..." Christina's caution did not elicit any pity from the man. Instead, he violently lifted her nightdress.

The man held her tightly in his arms. His eyes turned red. His hot, hot breath drowned Christina.

Ignoring the thrill of the body beneath him, the man did not stop licking her earlobe, but attacked her delicate neck more wilfully, chewing and licking as well. Her skin was streaked with hickeys.

Emond's hand movements became more violent. He tore off the nightdress she was hiding from him and threw it on the floor, his other hand holding down her unconscious and naked hand.

She let Emond manipulate her body, which made her ashamed and nervous.

Although they had sex more than once, she was still shy when they had sex.

Christina softened her voice, trying to wake the beast on top of her. "Emond, can you be gentle?"

Emond scoffed, "It's not the first time we've done this."

Christina had tears in her eyes. Emond's demands on her body are almost insane, and she knows that's why she's his wife.

If a wolf king can't feel his mate when he becomes an adult, he will suffer from the Red Moon Curse every month.

And she was nothing more than his antidote, to ease his pain when the curse took effect.

Christina put her hands feebly on Emond's shoulders, and her passion and lust was gradually aroused. She took a breath and released herself completely, unconsciously wrapping her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck more tightly.

She had no way of rejecting Emond, both emotionally or physically...

Emond rolled over on top of her with his hands on the bed, and stared at her with bloodshot eyes. He pushed his lower body hard, and the feeling of tear made Christina ache. "Ah... That hurts..."

Emond’ s all around mixed the desire with a trace of wakefulness. He took a deep breath, instead of rushing to demand, and softly said, "Relax. Haven't you learned how to be my wife till now?”

Christina didn't hear what he was saying, but slowly relaxed.

The pain was gone, and with it came pleasure. Her lust had been burned.

There was no thought in her mind other than sex. All she wanted was to hold him now, and to match the frequency of his movements.

Soon, Christina couldn't take it anymore and lost.

She felt like her body wasn't her own. She panted feebly for mercy.

Emond had no intention of letting her off the hook. He kept going until dawn.

Christina was still in the rest and Emond was gone.

There was a splash of water in the bathroom. Emond was taking a bath.

Christina rolled over and picked up the nightdress. It was torn to pieces and could not be worn anymore. She got up, tucking herself in. Her face was red as she remembered all that had happened the night before.

The noise stopped and Emond came out in a towel.

Christina gave him his clothes with a shifty look. "Breakfast is ready. I'm going downstairs."

"Okay."

Downstairs. Christina sat at the table, with hands behind her back, nervously rubbing the pregnancy test form she was holding.

They have been married for two years and she is nervous about the arrival of the baby. She is not sure how Emond will react when she finds out.

Emond got dressed and came down. He was dressed in a black suit and looked poised, in contrast to his gruff image last night.

Christina just glanced at him and was smitten.

After breakfast, Christina clenched the report and said, "Emond, I want to talk to you."

But at the end of the sentence, Christina regretted it. She opened her mouth, but no sound came out.

"I'll go first."

Emond got up and pulled out a document from the drawer. She held it between her long fingers and slowly handed it to Christina.

"This is the divorce settlement. Take time to see it and see what else you want to modify. Put forward anything you want and I’ll try to satisfy you."

Christina was caught off guard and struggled to keep his body from falling off his chair.

A divorce settlement?

Her mind went blank and she looked at him blankly. After a while she recovered and said in a very low voice, "You're divorcing me?"

Christina pressed his lips together. She thought, What if I already had your baby?

Can we not get divorced?

Before the words come out, she heard Emond's emphatic reply, "Yes, I want to divorce you."

With her hands behind her back, she pinched herself when Emond wasn't looking and kept her cool in front of him.

When she was still silent, Emond continueed, "Fanny is coming back. Let's end our three-year contract early."

"My wife and my mate were destined to be the same person, you know."

The pregnancy test was already creased by the sweat oozing from her palms. "Yeah." She knew. She didn't have to go on.

"One more thing, I want you to talk to Grandma about our divorce. Think of a good reason... If I had brought it up, she wouldn't have agreed."

"Yes, I see." Christina looked up and tried to smile.

She is an ordinary werewolf, her mother is even a slave, her nominal father is a gambler.

How could she be the wife of the wolf king?

When Emond was competing with Leon's family to be the wolf king, Leon plotted against Emond and his parents' car, causing a serious crash that almost killed them.

It was Christina's mother who came by and risked her life to save their lives.

She and her mother took care of them.

Also, by accidence, on a full moon, Emond's curse brike out and he almost killed everyone in the house, but Emond became calm when he saw her.

In this way, she became his wife.

Emond told her, "Our marriage is not fair to you. You can leave anytime you want. But now you have to be my wife for three years.”

She covered up her heart and pretended to be relaxed. "There is no injustice," she replied. "I have benefited too. I'll be the wife of the wolf king and being admired and adored by people. When the time is up, I will leave naturally."

After marriage, she did enjoy the respect and love due to the wolf king's wife, but she knew that this was false.

All his kindness to her was out of need of her body.

Christina lost his appetite. He reached for the settlement on the table and started to go back to his room.

Emond suddenly pressed her hand in exasperation. "Have you thought of a reason? When we got married, I thought you said you had a crush on someone?"

Christina took the hint and said, "I'll tell Grandma I'm going to pursue my own happiness."

Christina couldn't wait to leave the room.

She dared not stay. She was afraid that she couldn’t control herself and asked Emond if she can keep the contract time and divorce after one year.

As she turned around, Emond called out, "You don't look good. Are you alright?"

Christina clasped his hands and said, "No."

"Do you know that when you lie, everyone can see through you easily?"

Emond grabbed her right hand. "What's that in your hand?"

Christina pulled away and forced a smile. "It's nothing, just my period. Clenching my fists helps ease the pain."

"If it hurts, don't put up with it. Let the doctor take a look at you later."

"Well."

She leaned weakly against the door, silently scolding herself. What a fool.

Why can't you say out loud to Emond that I am your wife and I am not divorcing.

Emond suddenly approached her and asked, "Who is he?"

"He?"

Emond stared into her eyes, suddenly angry. When he asked for a divorce, she had nothing to miss and say nothing to ask him back. Did she want to divorce him that bad?

"Who is that person you've been in love with?"
