Ciara’s POV
The lifeless body of my five year old son was the most shocking and painful thing I had ever seen since I was born. He was killed by invading rogues due to his father, Alpha Alexio’s negligence.
Alpha Alexio was my mate and together, we shared the task of being there for my son. He usually came home in the afternoon, after work to be with our Jake, while I went out to sort things out for the family. Our pack, Aman Pack, was constantly under attack due to the rogue war and we both needed to keep our son safe.
Things however changed when Beta Camilla came to the pack, from the United States and began working in his company as his secretary. Before now she has been acting as his Beta from abroad. All of a sudden, she came back.
He began keeping late nights and sometimes, would not even come home.until the next day. It did not just make it lonely for me, but also dangerous because only he knew how to fight the rogues off, no matter how many they were.
“Stop being paranoid! There is nothing going on between us. I just have more work these days.” He would fire back at me anytime I tried questioning him.
I had to cope with this new development and take my son with me anytime I was going out. Adding to the fact that I was heavily pregnant, this was a big issue for me, but I had to do it anyway.
Tonight, however Jake had slept early and I really needed to get groceries for the family. Doing a quick step out, I came home to see the house in shambles.
The security men were dead at the entrance and the doors were open.
I gasped as I remembered my son and without caution, ran into the house.
There he was lying dead amidst the rubbles of the scattered sitting room. “Jake!” I yelled as I ran to him.
No matter how I tried to wake him up, he wouldn’t respond. He had been killed by rogues, who by virtue of the noise upstairs, I knew were still in our home.
I quickly dragged the body to a point where I could hide and mindlinked my Alpha.
“Why the hell will you be interrupting me in the middle of work?!” He snapped at once immediately.
“I am sorry, Alpha, I wouldn’t be doing this, but our home is…. Our son….” I was still struggling to put the words together, my body shaking in fear as I struggled to say one before the other.
Interrupting before I could finish, “Who’s that?” There was a feminine voice and it was none other but Camilla.
“It’s her!” He said with a kind of a smirk.
“Why does she like to disturb you whenever you’re with me?” She sighed.
“I really don’t know.” He told her, right before talking back to me again.
“Look, why don’t we do this when I get home. I am really busy now!” He said with his voice, still devoid of any care.
“There won’t be a home to come back to if you don’t come now!” I yelled at him. This wasn’t one of those times he would tell me off and I’d leave. This was a serious situation.
“Rouges are in our house and they’ve killed our son! We needed….” Before I could complete my sentence, I was hit from behind by a rogue, causing me to tune out of the mindlink and fall to the ground.
When I looked up, I saw a rogue stand before him, eyes and breath, hungry as if he wanted to devour me. Of course, that was what he wanted to do.
I was in no condition to fight back, and laid there, begging for help as he attacked me. If my Alpha had left after the mind link, he would be here by now to stop this. He was fast and the office was just a few blocks away. That wasn’t the reality though. No one was coming for me.
I felt the rogue’s punch in my belly, so painful that I blacked out at once.
The next thing that woke me up was the bright light of the pack hospital about a week later. I had been dropped and strapped lightly to the bed.
“Oh Luna, you’re awake?” The doctor walked towards me, the nurse followed.
I groaned as I sat up. I felt pain in my belly and when I looked down, it was flat. “What the hell!” I exclaimed. “Where’s my baby?!”
The doctor looked at me with a frown. “I am sorry Luna, they brought you in a very bad shape. We had to choose between you and the baby.” She told me.
This broke me down. I couldn’t fathom the pain I was feeling. Now, everything started to get to me. My son, my Alpha….
“Is the Alpha here?” The first question which came to my mind. The doctor paused for a brief moment, not saying a word but looking at me with steady eyes.
“He’s not here. He hasn’t been here since you got admitted.”
I sprang up immediately as his words led my mind to recalling what happened to me. Losing my only child.
I didn’t mind the doctors and nurses glaring at me as I ran through the hospital to the exterior. Standing by the side of the road, I hailed a taxi, returning to the pack house.
I was going crazy, in my mind, praying to the moon goddess that what I had witnessed was a dream. My son was home playing with his father and would welcome me immediately when I was there.
Sadly, that wasn’t the case. It is all true. My son had died and the house was still recovering from the attack. I broke down for the second time that day. I had lost two children, one unborn.
“Alexio must be as sad as I am or more.” I said to myself. I knew I had to go comfort him.
As I took a step forward, I heard laughs and chatters, like Alexio and someone else were at the back, the pool side, so I retraced my steps.
The first sight I saw as I set into the pack house was Alpha Alexio and his Beta, Camilla cuddling each other in the pool.
My legs stopped. My jaw dropped.
As I stood there, a worker walked to me with sorrow on his face, on his hand was a pressed and folded dress. Glaring at it, I realized what it was.
My late son’s clothes which he wore on the day of his death.
Blood was on it, bringing back all the bad memories which I’d come home to my Alpha for. I wanted to sort out things with him even when I knew the pain wouldn’t go away.
“Oh goddess!” I cried out aloud as I received the clothes.
“Sorry Luna, your son had been buried that same day. He asked his servants to get him buried.”
“What?” I cried even louder. “He didn’t go to the burial?”
“Sorry Luna but he wasn’t present.”
“Ohhh!” A loud gasp of sorrow escaped through my throat, even as I cried out really loud, Alpha Alexio didn’t even seem to notice me.
I stormed to him where he sat inside of the pool with his mistress, seeing me walk towards them, they jerked apart, dropping the glass of wine which both held. I’d thought Camilla was wearing a bikini but coming here, she wasn’t wearing anything.
My anger tripled. Camilla was the reason why things changed at home. We were doing perfectly well and I was getting enough love and care for my Alpha until she began working for him.
At some point, I dug deep into her real personality and found out they schooled together at some point and she was his first love. That made it more disturbing.
“You can trust me, babe, there is nothing going on between us. No one can take me away from you.” Alexio assured me. Look at the turn of events now. Exactly what I feared would happen, was what was happening.
